I have been potentially offered a job in Mongolia

Wow. Cool story. :techman:
I have memories of past lives, and that was one of them: I was essentially an accountant keeping up with taxes collected from part of the lands the Khan's father had conquered. I was summoned to speak with a young lady who was minor royalty from one of those lands who had been brought to the palace. I don't remember the contents of the conversation, just some of the images related to it, but I was later put to death for seeing her before the Khan had.

God this is so awkward, but I totally remember you! I was the guy who executed you! I mean, in my past life of course. How crazy to meet like this huh? Who knows maybe the next time around it'll be you holding that axe and it'll be my head on the chopping block!

what would you do ?

Conquer most of Asia. You know, "when in Mongolia, do as the Mongols do" and all that.

I say go for it, but have an exit strategy just in case you don't like it or there are any problems. How often do you get an opportunity like this? Embrace it, but take precautions.

Sorry, but you've got the wrong guy. I was executed by having molten silver poured into my eyes, ears, and mouth for having seen, heard, and spoken with the woman first.

You already have a friend there, so I say go for it. You only live once (unless, of course, you don't).

It's a fantastic opportunity. I you try something and don't like it, at least you've tried. There's nothing worse than thinking 'Oh I wish I'd done that...' Carpe Diem and all that. Go for it :)

As someone who's been accused of "over-analyzing" everything, try this, it's really easy. Every decision causes some regret at some point, so, given the available info right now:

Imagine that you DON'T take advantage of this offer, how much can you foresee right now that you will regret this, either in the immediate future or when-you're-on-your-deathbed type thing?

Okay, now imagine that you DO take advantage of this offer, how much can you foresee right now that you will regret this, either in the immediate future or when-you're-on-your-deathbed type thing?

You can only go by what you know right now. It's basically the same thing as listing the pros and cons, but I think this includes emotions more.

I have e-mailed my friends Uncle who runs the school because he wanted me to tell him my GCSE's and general information about myself including any questions I have. I guess all I have to do is wait and see to learn more about the job and country before deciding what I want to do.

No shit, I just purchased your skull off of Ebay! PM me and I'll ship it back to you no questions asked.

I really don't appreciate your insensitive attitude.

 :techman:
USS_Triumphant, how did your memories surface?
When I was 15 I was in a very bad car wreck. I put my head deeply into the metal side door of a Chevy cargo van. The doctors who saw me used phrases like "30% total person brain damage" and "don't understand how he isn't hospitalized as a vegetable for the rest of his life". I did have some serious memory issues, and some other side effects that I won't get into right now.

None of that directly bears on your question, but I feel it only fair to mention.

When I was 19, my wife, my son, and I (we got married when I was 17) were at home one night. I was well fed, I was not sleep deprived, and I had not taken any drugs (I don't, period). Trying to fall asleep, I was suddenly overcome with an irrational fear and the feeling that something evil was trying to get inside my head. This went on for almost a whole week, with these incorporeal beings, as I came to know them, showing me how they had killed me in a previous life, and promising to do harm to me and my family. I eventually discovered a way to repel and even destroy them, and that later was related to how I became involved briefly with a couple of covens. But that, too, is another story.

Anyway, ever since that night I occasionally have encounters with those beings, and their tauntings frequently contain additional details of "my past". And I have dreams that don't really seem like dreams, that fill in additional details of my past lives (including memories of a place that part of my mind insists that we go to between lives) in a manner that is remarkably coherent and consistent for an ongoing brain-damaged delusion. ;)
My guess would be alcohol-fueled head-trauma. :guffaw:
Nope, no alcohol involved. I don't drink, either.

Very Buddhist of you.

I say 'Go for it!', otherwise you'll regret never having taken the opportunity the rest of your life.

Even if you don't have a solid "way back" -- think of all the adventures you could have if it doesn't pan out... the Trans-Siberian Railway, perhaps, etc.

Cheers,
-CM-

How much are you going to be paid? It sounds like a good deal, but I will admit I wouldnt do it. I like America too much to leave it.
