I Hate The Klingon Race

[Out of curiosity, why do you take that position? On some boards, they want the old thread ressurected as it will have all the old conversations, and possibly prevent retreading, or enable the opportunity to readdress an old thought from a different angle. Yet, on other boards, resurrecting an old thread is practically a Cardinal Sin. Why the difference in opinion?
I've never understood the problem with thread necromancy, personally. I just like to observe local norms when it's easy to do so, and they're applied to everyone (*cough* consecutive posts is spamming *cough*).

Well, this is a large board with a big turnover of threads and posters. If you resurrect a quite old thread (let's say a year old) you have pages of posts from people who aren't necessarily around for the resurrected debate or who have already forgotten what they posted in the thread so you might be arguing with phantom posters and opinions. Recently, there was an old thread resurrected here and the arrow symbol on the thread showed me that I had apparently particpated in it at some point but I couldn't remember what I had written.
I guess that's why it's not a hard rule and there's some leeway in handling this. It isn't an actionable thing, either, unless you do it to annoy people.

I guess that makes sense. I still think it makes more sense not to reinvent the wheel - especially given there's an entire subspecies of forum poster that delights in saying "use search, newb," or linking to previous threads on the topic in lieu of an answer - but whatever.

Well, I don't think that would happen here unless there was a recent thread with the same topic.

"No thread necromancy" to me always smacks of elitism and snobbery.

Not just here, but on any board that has that, either as a hard rule or as part of its unwritten code of conduct.

Yeah I absolutely despise klingons, but I guess my real hate is just twofold. On the one hand I just hate the idea of a warrior culture, I just never liked them in any sort of media, kind of why I roll my eyes at how much love mandalorians get.

The second point is more a personal grievance I have with Trek and most sci-fi in general, monocultured species. Like not taking colony worlds, intergalactic cohabitation, and space travel in to consideration, a planet is big, and a population of a planet tends to also be big, so what EVERY Vulcan is logical? EVERY Ferengi is greedy? (And yes I know with each example there are a few outliers, but come on) to me it’s just the combination of most klingons being a warrior culture. Sure, a rich history, and a deep lore and yadda yadda, but I’m not a fan of space Vikings.

First, welcome to the board.

Second, please take some time to review the rules of posting here, pinned at the top of this forum.

This thread has been dead for over 9 years.

Let’s let it Rest In Peace, shall we?
