I got carded!! At my age!!

I got carded!! At my age!!

Lucky you.

About a year ago, when I was 49, I went to the cinema. I was surprised that I was charged less than I usually paid and when I looked at the ticket I found out why - the young man had given me a senior's ticket.

Then a couple of weeks ago i got on to the bus and was asked if I had a senior's card because seniors were getting free travel that week. I said 'no, I am only 50" and the driver apologised.

Christ, I'm about to turn 33 this coming Christmas (December 23rd, technically,) & I haven't gotten carded in CENTURIES for ANYTHING. I have a baby-face & I buy (entire cartons,) of cigarettes in my neighborhood Safeway for my mom on snack runs sometimes & they just hand them over, no questions asked. (See the avatar at left, that's really me.)

Me at 32 Years Old.
Judging from this picture, I would probably card you.

Judging from this picture, he's Peyton Manning

They don't card anybody here. Doesn't matter how old you are. My roommate grew up here and he started smoking when he was 12.

That was actually fairly common when I was that age. It's not so common now, but it's not unheard of. I guess they just ask their parents or their older siblings to get them their smokes, or they buy them from someone selling them out of the trunk of a car. One of our former co-op students here (who was 17 at the time) told me that he usually bought his from a native who sells them at a local weekend flea market - apparently he never carded anyone.

I got carded back in late August or early September in the bar at the Atlanta Hyatt, during Dragon*Con. The poor bartender did a Roger Rabbit-type double-take with her eyes when she discovered that she'd just carded a 41-year-old.

Honestly, I don't care how old you are.
Aww...
Why wouldn't you bring an ID with you?
There are times when I forget it in my car. There are times when I leave my wallet in my other pants (forget to switch when I go home) It happens
And it's technically illegal for you to purchase alcohol without ID anyway, regardless of age.
Is it? That I didn't know. I know that at BJ's I was never carded when people that looked older than me were carded simply because I knew the people there. They knew I was over 21... Are you sure that it's illegal if they don't have the id on them

Technically.

If you're obviously over 21 it's not an issue because nobody is going to check, but even a 90-year old still technically needs their ID in order to prove it if some highly unlikely and absurd situation came up. For all I know you could Robin Williams from that movie where he played the kid who aged really fast.

I get carded all the time. Sometimes I even get carded for cigarettes. I'm 32. :vulcan:

I told them, "I have no kids. I stay out of the sun. And I'm really immature."

Those are the keys, yes. Being very small also seems to 'help'. I personally find it extremely annoying. I mean, I know I don't look 32 (whatever that's supposed to look like), but I sure don't look 17 either...

From the clerk's perspective, better safe than sorry. For all they know, you could be an undercover cop, and they could get in a lot of trouble for not carding you.

Cops perform these kinds of stings all the time.

I've been told (and I realize) that I don't look my age, but man--did this make my day:

<SNIP>
I've recently turned 45.

When I tell them that, the younger cashier asks, "Why don't you have any wrinkles?!"

I told them, "I have no kids. I stay out of the sun. And I'm really immature."

Like I said, it made my day.

Pita, I know the feeling but it stopped at around 30. I don't look 62, but I don't look 20 either. :)

The "immature" is not physically.

I'm woefully immature emotionally. Or so Hubby tells me ;). But, I think he likes it that way---it keeps him young at heart.

Not really relevant to anything I said, but okay!

I still get carded at 37. Makes my day when it happens- don't care if they're just playing it safe! :p

On the other hand, people who don't know me are surprised to find out my age. I've been told I look about 25. I'll take it!

I've been carded all but once going into casinos, but I've yet to be carded while buying drinks in a restaurant, which sorta surprises me, because everyone lately tends to guess that I'm about 19 and one even thought I was still in high school a couple weeks ago. I turned 25 last month. I'm delighted that people sometimes think I might be a teenager still, considering how many people thought I was much, much older when I actually was a teenager (the worst one being a waiter who thought I was old enough to be my stepmother's mom).

When I am clean shaven (like I currently am), people think I am a few years younger than I am. Last year, I had some people think that I was in highschool when I was actually 24. I was actually a bit insulted. I am at least a little bit more mature than that! :p

Wow... I've never seen anyone carded going into casinos
I've been gambling at the local casinos and Vegas since I was driving :D
I was 17 the first time a friend and I sneaked off to Vegas. That's when I found out you had to be 21 to rent a room in the big casinos

I'm 23, but I look like I could be late 20s/early 30s and still get carded frequently. When I was 18, an eight-year-old kid thought I was forty. I never get carded.

And no, the movie Jack is NOT about me.

Keep in mind the casinos that card me are in Indiana. The one that didn't card me was in Tampa, FL (in fact, I don't even remember there being someone around to bother checking IDs).

Sadly, I've never been to Vegas...or well, west of the Mississippi. :(
