I got an New idea for a Trek show

steveda19

Lieutenant Commander
You know like different shows of CSI right? Why not have a Trek story just that type of Aliens and society. Like Star Trek Vulcan..Its about Vulcans only. Star Trek Klingon Star Trek Romanian. You get the idea.:vulcan:

But, I'm human, as are the vast majority of the audiences advertisers are trying to reach.

What do we not already know about Vulcan society that we'd need an entire series about it? Or Klingons, or Romulans, etc.?

I once had an idea of a Star Trek: Klingon spinoff 30 years ago, until I realized you'd never be able to recognize the actors. And makeup costs would be enormous.

When UPN first started up, I sent them an email (yes, I had email then) suggesting that their daytime soap opera lineup could include a soap on the Klingon Homeworld, and another with Vulcans. I went into great detail. They thanked me for my interest, but didn't bite. Can't imagine why. ;)

What would really work is Star Trek: First Federation. Commander Balok and friends, each the sole occupant of a giant spaceship made of ping-pong balls, patrol their borders every week. Most enemy ship captains aren't as lucky as Kirk.

6 episode miniseries could work.

You would still have to pay for the make-up and it would likely be less financially viable as you wouldn't have enough time to come up with money saving improvements along the way nor could you spread out development cost over dozens or hundreds of episodes.

You coiuld save money on the sets if there was an another ongoing series at the same time.

This has been floated many times here over the past 14 years and the general consensus always falls back to: not human, therefore we won't identify with the protagonists. While I'm sure a small clique would dig such a premise, the majority would likely check out early on.

To save money, instead of building sets they could just film the actors wandering around a forest in British Columbia.

Indeed, you would have trouble selling the show to the suits. Because how can they expect to sell the show to the general public?
