I finally saw Zombieland

broberfett

Vice Admiral
Admiral
The movie was fucking great! I would recommend it to anyone. There is some great comedy and the rules are displayed in a hilarious, visually interesting manner. I really enjoyed the visit to the celebrity mansion. I won't name the celebrity, it is better to be surprised. Zombieland is fun for the whole family(except for maybe that zombie stripper).

One of my favorites of last year. Which surprised me a lot. I have never really seen a whole Zombie film before this.

It is mentioned on the DVD that it was first written as a pilot for CBS which they turned down.

Yeah I also loved Zombieland. I do think it dragged on for a bit in the middle, but overall it was a seriously hilarious movie.

This movie proves one thing (much like Shaun of the Dead did): Zombies, can be funny. I loved this movie, if not the way the 'rules' often presented themselves. The movie also didn't take it self to seriously, or make the characters to serious, or to overly stupid (while keeping some stupidity), and I felt some of the cliches were washed away (if not made fun of). The appeal on a focus of a group of characters going differently, then it typically does in this sort of movie was pretty good to.

I also read about the pilot, an interesting note for sure, and probably a mistake to approach CBS with it. In the end though, it's probably better it became a movie, instead of a series. It'd have been drastically different, and probably controverted in guest stars, series pacing, etc... I certainly look forward to the sequel, and hope it can be just as good, if not better. Apparently, everyone involved with the first one, wants to be involved in the second one.

The celebrity mansion scenes were funny, I thought and Tampa's reaction to the celebrity, and what is and isn't connection to his discoverity of the celebrity and being a fan...hah...classic.

Did I mention that the opening of the movie was one of the most awesome things in the entire history of the universe. They play Metallica!

One of my favorite movies from last year. One of the reasons I think that I loved it so much is because it centers on the characters and their situation and not just on the zombies or hunting zombies. The rules were awesome...I'm a big fan of the Zombie Kill of the Week...and the DVD has been out since the 2nd of this month .

I honestly did not expect to enjoy the movie nearly as much as I did. I almost didn't go see it in theaters, but the hype convinced me to check it out. I'm now a proud owner of the Blu-ray. :techman:

"Zombie Kill of the Week" was a hold over from the tv series plans. Each new episode would have had one.

Makes you wonder how many humans are still alive? I hope a sequel does not go the route of the ending of the Will Smith version of "I Am Legend".

This premise and tone kinda of reminds me of Red Dwarf in a way.

Loved this film. Loved as well that a man I thought had lost his sense of humour and got a trifle up himself turns out to still be funny...

yes I'm talking about Bill Murray

I think what made it great was that, for a zombie film, it doesn't have that many zombies really, until the end. Its more about the characters, all of whom are great.

Woody Harlson plays a loon so well....

Yeah it was a surprisingly good movie, though I absolutely despise the main guy actor in everything I've ever seen him in. Aside from his presence it was great!

Something I read said they zombies were still alive, just infected, meaning it wasn't a true zombie film.

It was an okay movie. I don't get all the great love for it. I liked the hunt for a twinkie idea more than the idiocy of going to a theme park (which still, inexplicably, has electricity) in the midst of a zombie overrun USA. The celeb cameo was spoiled for me, but...oh, well.

When we went to see it at the cinema, I wasn't expecting much of it. Afterwards, I thought it was a lot of fun:)

I generally loathe the whole Zombie movie genre.. it just doesn't do anything for me watching some gruesome "people" lurch about and slowly whittle down the hero group one by one (which is basically the plot of any zombie movie i've heard of).

But Zombieland was a blast.. hilarious from beginning to the end and when they revealed the backstory of Harrelson's character it broke my heart (moreso because it was acted so well by Woody).

I can't recommend this movie enough.. and right after watch Shaun of the Dead ;)

This movie reminded me how much I like Woody. I like this to have a similar effect on his career that Iron Man has had for Robert Downey Jr.

Time Magazine had an interview with him mentioning how hard it was for him to get roles after Cheers. Never really thought about it but beyond the usual tv typecasting he was actually playing a character called "Woody". For a while people thought that was who he really was.

I have to agree. I generally like Woody in anything he's in. They say he's a strange bird, but he sure as hell entertains me.
