I don't want to see new aliens in the sequel as villians!

Has anyone noticed how the best Trek villians were people or aliens we are familiar with. Khan the Borg and the Klingons in the final TOS movie. V'Ger while intresting was sort of a flop as were Soran and the Sonya. "Ressurection" has the Romulans but screw it up by having a human clone and Remans as the real villians. You don't have to use Khan but does anyone else but me, feel the villians need to be familiar to some degree?

If they do want to create new alien character then they should surprise as and shake up the TOS dynamic and make him a member of the TOS crew. A more unique alien version of Saavick. New aliens should be restricted to monsters, ancillary characters or a new character than is one of the good guys and plays a important role in the story.

Frankly, Khan and the Borg had to be new sometime. In TOS, my favorite "villains" per se were the giant amoeba and the planet killer machine. They're two inventions that, frankly, were pretty unique compared to Berman-era Trek.

''Ressurection''? Don't you mean ''Nemesis''?

Well, Alien: Resurrection did screw it up by having that bastard alien-human hybrid. Maybe that's what he was referring to.

Yep, I got the titles mixed up.

Good writing means good villains regardless of whether we have seen their species before.

How did your Trek date go Jayson?

It was supose to be tommrow but I can't get in contact with her. Me and my friend are proably just going to go see 'terminator" instead. Looks like Abrams might not help me get laid afterall. :(

AMEN TO THAT!!! :techman::techman::techman:

I'd like to see something like that in the next film.

I'd like to see something akin to species 8472 in that the villains are from another dimension entirely (I don't mean like the sphere builders) I mean like 8472. I'd like it to be a follow on from Trek XI in that the red matter blackholes punctured their dimension when created with devastating results therefore they find a way into this dimension to find out why they were attacked even though technically they wern't.

Oh, that's a brilliant idea. You could even have the Enterprise fall into a red matter portal and be stuck where, truly, no one has gone before. Suddenly you go deeper into Trek's roots, mixing action and real exploration for once. The crew could have two big priorities: saving the Federation and trying to learn as much as possible (the pursuit of knowledge). I love it!

Knowing Abrams, he would add artifacts as clues into this new universe. That's alright by me if the artifacts add to the grand mystery.

No, because the best Trek villains had to be introduced first.

Khan and Borg were powerful adversaries, but essentially recycled once for a movie.

I don't think either should be used in the new one.

I'm still thinking Guardian of Forever meets Mirror Universe--the settings that are familiar, but new adversaries and moral issues to face.

I'm sure that Lindelof is more than capable of delivering an intricate storyline... just hope it doesn't get too out there.

You will get what you want.

Except the race in question isn't motivated by revenge. They have their own, somewhat alien, agenda.

You know what, I never even considered that, actually having the Enterprise entering this other dimension. I love that idea!

I think the next films villains will probably be Klingons.
With Starfleet realign from the destruction of Vulcan and the all but destroyed fleet, the Klingons (or for that matter Romulans, MAYBE BOTH) would have the tactical edge if the chose to invade.

Given that we've only probably got two new movies - I can't see them going with a new alien race. Can't chance a mis-fire.

Something out of TOS I would think. My money is on the Klingons. Or the Gorn.

The Klingons kidnap Carol Marcus, with the help of the Gorn.

:D

I wouldn't mind Klingons but I would be curious as to what Abrams would do with them so it doesn't feel old hat with them. A female Klingon villian,A mentally ill Klingon. Would he change their look as well. Give them face paint or make them half-naked. Those are just a few possibilities that come to mind.

I still think we'll need a love interest for Kirk in the next movie.

How many women did Kirk have in the back catalogue? Carol Marcus, Areel Shaw?
