Again, there was no drop in ratings for season 22 over the Davison seasons. The show was cancelled because of Michael Grade's own dislike for the show and because he was boning Colin's ex. It was also Grade who insisted on Colin being replaced after Trial. That's not true that the ratings started to slide from Twin Dilemma onwards. The ratings for season 22 were just as good as those for the Davison seasons. It was after coming back from the 18 month hiatus that the ratings were much lower, and they stayed that way thoughout McCoy's era.
If the rating were the strong before the haitus they wouldn't of put the show on ice.
If you-know-who at the BBC hadn't been having an affair with Colin Baker's wife, they also wouldn't have put the show on ice.

Never heard that one.

It's not the case that Colin was instantly unpopular either. He was more quickly accepted I think for a new Doctor than any other Doctor up to that point (the AI stats and audience comments for new Doctors were in the Radio Times back when series 5 started).
Here's an interesting site about the changing of Doctors and such: http://www.bbc.co.uk/archive/changingwho/index.shtml
They have a picture available of Colin in the black suit he wanted to wear from the start, don't they? He looked great in that outfit.
Umm, well...not really.I would love to see colin baker in a more traditional doctor who costume.. how does the actor look today? Is he fit and in shape?
Erm, Colin didn't have some massive hatred for the suit. He was devasted to lose the part of the Doctor and it took him a long time to come to terms with it. He spoke about how having a long role in stage play "Doctor Who: The Ultimate Adventure" helped him say goodbye to the part. He didn't think "at least I don't have to wear that fucking clown costume now". He even had a larger version of the coat made to fit his current figure which he wears for appearances. He'll joke about the costume as has been popular to do, but he doesn't have some immense hatred of it. Personally, I love the costume and especially the coat. It's a million times better than Captain Bland's beige cricket outfit with added celery.I would love to see him now.. and I wonder if he would ever step back into that role again, doubtful after the suit, and the wife cheating problems..In which case, I don't blame him..
Are you suggesting he not wear his usual costume and longish hair? Because that's what his Doctor is.but I did see paul McGann without the long hair and wearing some smooth clothes, and he looks great! he could do a whole time war series and pull it off wonderfully..even throwing in eccleston and making it epic..
Only McGann onwards still look the part. And I've no desire to see Eccleston or Tennant appear with Smudger.do it now while they are young and fit! let's not have another 5 doctors problem and wish we could have 25 years later..

nah, I disagree completely, who says he has to remain that way, the early doctors had different costumes, and sometimes their hair was different as well.. in minor ways, but still, considering his doctor has only 1 appearance, that leaves open a chance for him to return in what ever guise he likes..IMHOAre you suggesting he not wear his usual costume and longish hair? He hasn't changed.
People age differently. Time has not been kind to poor Colin.
BTW, I too would like to see the Time Lords return. And properly this time - what RTD did in The End of Time was terrible imo. Bringing the Timelords back for all of 5 minutes and then locking them away again is criminal! And they were only used as if they were some alien of the week anyway, you could have substituted any made up alien race in their place and the story would work the same!![]()
