I Can't Stand Gears of War!

Extremely enjoyable co-operative campaign, fun multiplayer so long as you do it with people you like. I'd agree that it's not as fun if you're alone though.

I did initially play it co-op, but my GF hates the game so much she refuses to ever play it again, and now I'm stuck finishing it on my lonesome. :p

I'm using the main gun with the most ammo. I don't remember what I did before, but my other weapons are a) broken Hammer of Dawn, b) four grenades, and c) some pistol with only 80 ammo in it. So I can't use anything else.

I loved Halo's story, I found it really intriguing. I've read all the books save the most recent one. I particularly thought the 3rd game had some really touching stuff in it between Master Chief and Cortana. The venus fly trap was Gravemind, the leader of the Flood. M.C. didn't return to Earth at the end because he was stranded outside the galaxy in a broken space ship, that's why he went into cryo, to await rescue.

I loved Gears! The story was a tad underdeveloped, but the gameplay I loved. Oh, and it's just bliss to look at (particularly the PC version at max res and settings).

And, I'm sorry, but if you're easily getting cut down on easy, something is seriously amiss. You MUST use cover in the game...

ever beat the game on legendary?

I played #1 on Legendary. We never went beyond the first stage of #2 on Legendary because when one of us got killed it rebooted the level. I only got my 360 a month ago so we haven't got around to attempting it yet on #3.

I don't like frustrating games, I like them to be entertaining; hence my annoyance with Gears ;)

Had a ridiculous amount of fun when I played Gears, but then I was playing it right... in co-op.

Wooo! Stand up!

I had great fun with it as well.
Beat it on hard then turned around and started one on Insane.
Gonna play it again a little closer to November 7th ;)

EAT SHIT AND DIE. FIGHT THROUGH THE PAIN.
Yeah, the "story" and "world" is pretty much what boys in 8th grade would come up with. In fact, I'm pretty sure I drew dinosaurs with guns at some point. :p

Get rid of the hammer if you aren't using it. They'll give you one when you need to kill something big.

And learn to use the other weapons - torque bow, shotgun.

As a single player experience Gears is a somewhat underwhelming game but,......you fire this baby up in co-op either over live or split screen and the game reaches new heights of awesomeness.

Start this game again on co-op on insane and you will wish by the end that it was longer.

Oh, yeah. I forgot the ship was damaged.

I was really disappointed with Gears of War. I'm a PC gamer and love first person shooters like Farcry and Half-Life. I also like 3rd person games like the Grand Theft Auto series or Max Payne.

Last winter I was looking for a new game. Something fun and full of action where I can shut my mind off and have fun. I was either going to get Gears of War or Call of Duty 4. Unfortunately, I chose Gears of War.

I agree with much of what the original poster said. I didn't like the monochrome coloring. Shooting enemies didn't feel like it had much weight. The vehicle levels were just stupid.

And I really hated the cover the system. Why do I even need a cover system? In Half-Life 2, if I need to take cover, I run up to something that would provide cover and crouch. No "system" needed.

I think I was about 2/3 or more of the way through the game before I stopped. I just lost interest.

Gears is pretty much the only game in the last 10years I've bothered to play through multiple times on the hardest difficulties, kinda wish it could get even harder.

Looking forward to the second one, but neither myself nor my bro have 360's any longer, and Epic have said no PC release.

I love it so much I did something today I rarely do and double dipped on it and picked up the special edition.

I was going to play it, I reinstalled it on my PC, went and changed the screen res settings, and it crashed out. 3 times. go figure.

Mr. Light I totally agree with you. This game totally SUCKED! I had the same problems with it you had. I made it to the second level and pretty much gave up. I would shoot at an enemy and nothing would happen to them, but I would get shot to pieces. Also I had trouble moving because I would be "stuck to a wall" and trying to figure out how to move and do all the other things. I got sick of it after having it for two days and sold it on ebay for 10 bucks.
