I Can't Come To Terms With It...

Is anyone else having major withdrawals over David Tennant leaving DW?

I've even put up a poster of him in my kitchen 'in memory'! (The boys in my house ARE NOT impressed - there's even talk of a hot female poster counter attack).

Apart from the fact he is simply 'the best' doctor, I think this is the first time I've ever seen a doctor not want to leave :(

I just can't say goodbye :wah:

While I appreciate how you feel... I have to side with your friends on this one.

Who did they have in mind?

Not wanting to sound too uncaring, but it's [Michael Winner]just a Television Programme[/Michael Winner]

Nope, but it probably helps that I grew up on Doctor Who and I've always known The Doctor to regenerate.

Now, if I had been growing up at the height of Tom Baker's run (and instead at the end of the series) and had only seen Tom Baker, then I would feel your pain.

I think they've overblown the whole "Tennant is leaving thing" to a point where, when some of this "I'm having withdrawl!" craze dies down, it may be more damaging in the long run.

I'm starting to think they'd have served Tennant better by giving him a more Eccleston-style departure. Tennant was great, but so were all the other actors playing the Doc.

It's not so much Tennant leaving, it's the really bad first scene Smith had that's leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm ready for the next Doctor. Tennant's Doctor was great, but so were most of the Doctors-gone-by.

Awwww, hang in there Mouse, it'll be okay. *group hug!*

But yeah, I've been with DW for close to two decades, so I'm kinda used to this.

I never really had the "shock" of my first Doctor dying (gee, I make him sound like a hamster). I started watching back during the sevent Doctor's reign and there was no regeneration until the 1996 movie. Between that time I had watched a load of random stories featuring all the different Doctors and had become normalised towards the idea of different Doctors.

We must of seen a different ending...I love DT's Doctor and I have watched his final moments many time on You Tube but the saddness has been replaced by anticipation for Smith.

I agree. I thought Smith' final scene was excellent and I'm looking forward to seeing him in action.

I'm not missing Tennant now, I might be missing him when the new series starts, though. Forever burned on my mind is Davison's regeneration into Colin Baker. As long as I get through the new Doctor's first scene without that dread again being realised I think I'll be okay. I did, and I suspect I will. Besides, Tennant had a long farewell, long enough to get over him, I feel.

I want to give Smith a chance. I miss Tennant as much as the next guy, but I said the same about Eccleston, and he was my favorite Doctor until about midway through Season 3. Looking forward to seeing what Moffat has in store for the series and the new era we're about to get into.

Well get season 2/3/4 and all the specials on DVD and your sorted.:)

But i know how you feel, as a very young child i can remember being quite upset when Pertwee lurched out of the Tardis and fell onto the floor and said his half goodbye to SJ.:(

I grew up with Dr Who too.

Think Tennant just got under my skin

For me he was exceptional.

Well I was really sad when Tennant regenerated, but that kind evaporated within a few seconds once Smith appeared, thought it was a great introduction.

I'll miss Tennant, and I've watched the regen lord knows how many times now and it still gets me, but I'm really looking forward to series 5 when it starts!

I'd probably be more upset about Tennant's departure if 1) Ten's regeneration hadn't taken so absurdly long, and 2) Eleven's introductory scene wasn't as fun. I quite enjoyed Matt Smith's first moments as the Doctor, so that helped lessen the blow.

Geronimo!

What worried me is Matt Smith seemed to be playing David Tennant playing the doctor. I'll reserve judgement till I see the next series but that last scene dismayed me a bit.

Maybe it's the fact David is a bloody gorgeous specimen of a man where as the others aren't, the best you could call some of them is "fugly" :alienblush:
