No, it's not. Because it meant that she would have stayed in the same house as Spock and therefore it makes her outburst completely pointless. To the "logic extremists," her brother and she would still live in the same place. So it was way more than enough time for her to mend fences with her brother and apologize for the insults that she had thrown at him. As I say no matter how you look at it the story doesn't make any sense.

Why would the disingenuos outburst have to have actual helpful qualities? That was the plan, but the plan went awry. And the extremists kept trying, ultimately almost getting Sarek.

Mending fences doesn't appear to be an endeavor of good prospects when there are Vulcans involved. Spock and Sarek refused to speak to each other, too - even when the latter took special pains to reach the former's ship on the eve of a supposed final battle, as we saw. Burnham tried for half a season, and failed; the point seemed to be that she had tried before, been frustrated, and was now very hesistant to even try, then did, and was frustrated again.

Their house was enormous. She made it clear she wanted nothing to do with him and word likely spread, in her mind keeping him safe. They probably ignored each other at gatherings.

It doesn't look enormous to me. We see it from outside, remember? Plus Sarek never noticed that there was a rift between his children, which seems even weirder. I mean he could hear his wife read Alice to Michael but never noticed that Spock and she never spoke to each other?

Are you kidding? Spock is extremely stubborn (as Dr. McCoy knows well.) It's very possible they could live together in gthe same house but never speak to each other, except where forced to by either Sarek or Amanda. It's clear that after the event, whatever relationship they had was lost/destroyed. Micheal even mentioned to Amanda that she tried mend fences with Spock, but he said no.

And in the finale, he even says that she never lost him!!! He lives near her for twenty years without a word and yet she never lost him!!! What's his definition of losing someone?

I take it you're an only child? (In all seriousness, their situation IE two family member not speaking for years, isn't that uncommon. And it wasn't twenty years, more like maybe 5 - 8. Spock was a lot younger than Micheal.)

First, please don't assume things about my personal life, especially wrong ones.

You're missing the point. The point is that after NOT speaking to her for years, he told her that she never lost him!!

To paraphrase Martok "When a brother and sister don't speak it means that there's trouble between them."

Anyway, let's just agree to disagree at this point. This discussion is going nowhere.

Resentment often doesn't make sense. I have seen such things occur in relationships where people just will not talk to each other for years, and emotionally shut off.

So the actor playing young Burnham was thirteen at the time. (14 now) With no dates, you can fudge Burnham's age to be 15 or even 16.

Having a ward run away would likely and logically prompt changes in the way that Sarek approach Burnham.

Do we know what High School is like for Vulcans? Is there an equivalent of a boarding school? Sarek might have thought that Michael would benefited from going to a monastery for a few years. Or Burnham could have requested courses that took her to examine archaeology sites.

The Vulcan Science Academy probably has dorms like Starfleet Academy to accomodate offworld Vulcans, so her college years are covered.

There's a simpler more accurate way to date things.

We know that Michael was twenty years older on season two than when she lost her parents when she was ten. So that means that she was thirty on season two. Twenty-nine on season 1. Twenty-two when Sarek brought her on the Shenzhou which was no more than a few months after she was (allegedly) rejected by the Vulcan (something). So that means that she was raised by Sarek between the age of ten until she reached 21/22. When she saw Spock for the first time he was like five so that means that he was 16/17 when Michael left to be part of the Shenzhou crew.

According to the novel Desperate Hours, the age difference between Michael and Spock was enough that they barely saw each other growing up, given they went to separate schools with different hours. I guess we can stretch that out that after Michael's attempt at running away and calling Spock a weird half-breed, they made no effort to try to interact with each other, which was made easier by the age difference and going to different schools with different hours.
