Spoilers I bet George Kirk was in the reboot Nexus all this time

Who also appeared in the comics. Which are closely written with the creators of the reboot movies.
As The Wormhole said, Roberto Orci is no longer involved with the Kelvin Timeline comics. Also, you're giving the comics too much credit. The dog wags the tail, not the other way around. The producers of the fourth movie will whatever they want; they will probably not even be aware of ancillary stories. STID already contradicted some issues of the comic series it ties into.

To add to all of this talk: it's interesting that the Star Trek ongoing comic that Orci has overseen is ending with issue 60 and getting rebooted with a new title later this year.

But still: if the film producers decide to overwrite what happens in the comics, that's their decision.

I think it's just the typical industry practice of rebooting a line to attract attention because new readers might be intimidated by the high number of issues.

Who says that a weak story/element can't be tweaked and made more interesting in a reboot?

True, but the point is that nobody really has any fond memories of the Nexus or would be excited to see it again.

They brought back Khan because Khan is Trek's most famous villain but the Nexus never pops up on lists on the most iconic Star Trek concepts . . .. :)

Maybe it'll be a loose remake of "The Savage Curtain", only this time the Excalbians' examination of Kirk's mind will produce George Kirk instead of Abraham Lincoln? (And as for what they pull out of Spock's, maybe we'll get to see Ryder as Amanda again?)
