Judge Dredd is returning to the big screen, without Stallone, but from the makers of Sunshine and 28 Days/Weeks Later

I must confess I actually like the Stallone movie a fair bit - it's *not* a good Judge Dredd movie but *is* a better than usual Stallone action flick, if you see what I mean - but hopefully this time it'll get done right.

I liked Stallone's Judge Dredd film.Surely it's not a masterpiece but still a fun couple of hours.

Nice to see they are making a new one and Stallone is too old now to play the part.

Let's see how this one goes.

I certainly enjoyed the film:)

Wonder who they'll get for it (and which other characters will appear in this one).

I dunno. I have this weird feeling the new one won't have the sort of satrical comical take that Stallone's film had, which made it so bad it was good, but we'll see. I'm open.

The funny thing is, since Dredd runs in 'real time' (the strip's been running for 30 years, and Dredd's now 30 years older than when it started) Stallone would still be about the right age for the part.

A Judge Dredd who takes off his helmet after 5 minutes into the film is no Judge Dredd at all. Dredd would have offed that Rob Schneider character the very moment he opened his mouth...

Though I am aware of the "real time" thing the comic has, I still feel Stalone is too old to be given the part.
I'd rather see a younger Dredd (and no I don't mean a 90210 Dredd in his teens :p)

I thought that the Judge Dredd comic world was satirical to some degree.

Once something fails at the movies, it's destined to always fail. So I dunno what they are thinking.

I thought Stallone played a fine Dredd. I wish that film was available on Blu-Ray, or at least a decent standard DVD (the existing one isn't anamorphic  ).

As for Rob Schneider? Meh. He may be a pest, but I thought it was hilarious in the film where they're on the prison transport together and he starts imitating Stallone ("Mr. I-Am-Da-Law" :guffaw: ).

Oh well. If Stallone doesn't play Dredd again, though, you know who I think should? Why, the king of B-movies himself, of course: Tim Thomerson. :D

Judge Dredd was a fun film. Never read the comics, so it didn't bother me at all that he took of his helmet.. What did bother me though was that digitally altered picture that turned out to be a picture of a baby infront of a cloning machine.. I mean, come on!

I don't know about that, did you see Rambo? He's huge and can still kick ass, I think he could handle it without a problem.

I liked the first one. Not a "cinematic masterpiece" but good fun.

Stallone can still kick ass, but he does make character concessions when it comes to his age. He has Dixon hurt his hand in Rocky Balboa so that the fight can go long because otherwise Rocky wouldn't stand a chance. And in Rambo, he uses the heavy machine gun on all the bad guys because Rambo wouldn't stand a chance in hand-to-hand man-to-man combat after taking out the first few soldiers.
