I am new here just saying hello

Newbie
I live in Washington state and might be one of the oldest members I am in my mid 60s.
Just trying to ID a show from the next generation series. The Enterprise crew visited 2 worlds , one group have a problem with there future off spring being "sterile" because they had test tube sex and was at the end of there DNA string. The other world being nearby was doing just fine and was having sex (procreating) the old fashion way. Dr Crusher did a study on why one race was dieing off and the other race was having healthy babies. The doctor told the "high tech" race to start having sex the old fashion way and inter mix with there neighbors. They took offense with that. Commander Riker feel in love with a Red head "Irish girl" That is all I can relate . so if any one can help me ID this show it would be great. Thanks ED

Your description of the episode sounds better than I remember it to be! :)

Welcome, by the way, Edtrecke!

Actually, the plot above reads like it should've been an episode of Enterprise!

I'm 63, but the TNG forum moderator has us both beat I think. We need more elderly people like us on this board. Too many young whippersnappers around here.

And yeah, "Up the Long Ladder" with all the Irish stereotypes.

I love The Royale, I like that TNG did a pure comedy episode where they trapped the crew in terrible literature. Up The Long Ladder though is one of those episodes that people who think the show is condescending directly point to.

Hello Ed,
Welcome to the TREK BBS. I have lived in Washington state, while I was active duty in the United States Air Force.:)

Welcome, Ed.

I'm nearly 40, even though I frequently get mistaken for a high school student...and I'm frequently carded.

However, I do have extensive life experience

I always thought Royale was a good "mindless enteratinment episode." As opposed to outright offensive like ULL.

I rewatched The Royale and I thought it was pretty good mindless fun. The story made no sense but it was basically the same as holodeck episodes.
