I Am Moving House

...In 12 days on Saturday 28th, I leave this sterdy but crappy house because the company me n my friend rent from, are crap with a captial C. Only moving 5 minutes away but house is so much better and nice (meaning the rent is a little more but worth it) and I just cannot wait to move in.

Getting loads of new stuff for house liked beds, sofa, kitchen set etc etc and while it will obviously cost money its so worth it to live in a nice house where the boiler works and we actually have double glazing windows. New house been done up recently too so everything is very new and its all insulated which saves on Gas bill so much. Got to get internet, Digital tv set up which means days or weeks of bordem until thats done though (will prob ask someone later to take over tv ratings thread while am away) Doing tons of cleaning at moment to leave current house in a good state so we get a lot of bond money back, just done kitchen and bathroom but more rooms to do.

Anyone else moved recently or moving soon ? or any past experiences, was it a pain to move, easy...was it worth it :)

Good luck with the move. :) My place of work is moving offices this week. I'm finding it more stressful than I thought I would - I think it's a case of too many cooks. I came home early today and left them to it. At least when you move house you are in charge.

Hope you have a relatively easy move. Moving, at its best, is a pain in the ass. Good luck!

cheers, well this friday we are going to Ikea to get loads of stuff for kitchen, the garden needs sorting but the recent snow has made that job much easier. Got to move fridge/freezer, cooker and old sofas out of house so hardest part will be moving out not moving in

Use the move to throw away anything that you do not need or use. Be relentless in this. Don't waste time moving junk and trash.

My mother warned me about local moves being the worst and I found that she was right. Having moved both locally and long distance, I have found local moves to be the most aggravating...because I used a haphazard approach rather than getting a truck to move it all at once. In an across town move, it has been too easy to delay packing and tell myself "I'll just move this (and that and this and that and this and that...myself) and not put it on the big truck that I rented just for that purpose. In a long distance move you must have all of the packing done when the truck arrives. In the short distance move, I schlepped stuff over in several trips in my little car.

In the end, once the purge and move were over, it was absolutely worth it. Good luck and I wish you a happy new home!!

That is soooo true. If a positive spin can be put on the moving process, it's that the process is a great opportunity to weed out your junk. Throwing regular get-togethers at your home is another excuse, although it's easier to just shove junk in unseen closets and rooms when you're having a party than it is when you're vacating! :)

Already on it, getting rid of old crap like clothes, old pc games among other stuff...We went through and cleared downstairs cupboard under stairs and it was like "This is your life" for my house mate, so many old things that needing chucking but a few things that need keeping too because of personal value.

After cleaning house from top to bottom for most of day am knackered so think its bed time for me and it all begins again tommorow :shifty: got to go to council to pay them to pick up sofa's, fridge/freezer and cooker then Garden needs sorting, plus more tidying of the house and general packing things away to take to new house...This is why we need to invent robots

I am also moving on the 28th! Fancy that.

I'm moving from a studio apartment in the city into a house in the 'burbs (with family). It's just a sort of temporary hop, as I'll be moving again by the end of June, and probably across the country. I'll probably be moving in with my boyfriend; that's the first time I've done that. I'm a loner by nature, so we'll see how THAT goes.

I'm a bit of a military brat, so moving's nothing new to me; however, this is the first time I've hired movers.

I'm going to have to kick myself hard in the rear to get myself packing, too. It seems what the others said about local moves being the easiest to screw yourself over during is also true for me. :p Too bad you can't just pick your place up and shake all of the contents out into the moving truck.

Where's the transporters, already!?

Back...

and dam I AM NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN  so tiring the last week was and still got stuff to unpack but it was worth it, this house is very nice. One bad thing was the door is slightly smaller than expected so will need to buy a new sofa to fit in  on the plus side got all of the BOND back on the previous house and a new 32 inch HD tv .

ah its goood to be back.
