I Am In Pain(And Apparently a Spaz)

^^^

Damn Straight! As much pain as I was in, I still remember how good they tasted.

I jammed my thumb playing football today. It's not bruised or anything, so I think it should be fine in a few days, but it hurts like hell right now. :scream:

I did something similar Wednesday night, though it wasn't sports-related. Chrinfinity called me around 10:30 to ask if I would come downtown and meet him and his bf for a few drinks to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. (I wasn't going to go, because it was a weeknight, but then he said, "Just ask your boss if you can have a half-day tomorrow." And since he is my boss, at least Monday to Friday...)

So I took the subway downtown and started walking down Yonge Street to meet up with them, as they were walking up from Union Station. I ran into them about a block south of Wellesley, and he took a running jump at me and tried to land in my arms... but either he misjudged the distance, or he changed his mind partway through the leap, or I wasn't properly balanced, because we ended up lying flat on the sidewalk, with me on top and my right hand underneath him. My thumb is still slightly swollen, and I don't have the full range of motion. I spent the rest of the night in less than an ideal St. Patrick's Day mood.

Fortunately it didn't hurt too badly last night - I was able to average 173 over three games at my bowling league. :) And I obviously haven't learned my lesson, because after bowling, Chrinfinity and I went out drinking again... this time he kept both feet on the ground when he hugged me goodnight.

Oh sure, one-up my football injury with a "I was crushed by my boss" injury. I hope your thumb takes longer to heal! :scream: :p

Oh baby that hurts just looking at it. I did the same thing running to the kitchen as a youngster when my mom called out that brownies were ready. I had to go to school for a week in one shoe and one slipper.
It was five days before I could put on as much as a sock. Good thing I work from home these days.

RJ, my little toe folds under just like yours. :)
Heh. We are part of an elite genetic bunch.

Sometimes brownies are worth it though.
Yeah, if I was running for Brownies instead of running back from mailing some bills, I wouldn't have felt so bad. :rommie:

^^ It's nice to have a good relationship with one's boss. :rommie:

It is! It helps that we've been close personal friends for something like seven or eight years, and that he works for me on two conventions. We've gotten drunk together, commiserated over relationships together, slept together... platonically and fully clothed, before anyone says anything. :p

Boundaries? What are those? ;) (Though I'm almost certain that there are people at work who do think there's something else going on between us. Some people have problems conceptualizing that two guys - especially two gay guys - can be as close as we are without something else going on. It annoys both of us, but what can you do - people will think what they want to think.)

Oh sure, one-up my football injury with a "I was crushed by my boss" injury. I hope your thumb takes longer to heal! :scream: :p

If it makes you feel better, it's still sore, ten days later. I did manage a 535 series at the bowling alley last night, though, including a 202 in the third game, in spite of the pain and swelling. (I'm starting to wonder whether I shouldn't have it checked out, but I've spent so much time in hospitals over the last year that they're starting to think that I live there.)

^^ I had a relationship like that with one of my old bosses at BMC. We had actually met years before when she was a Midwifery student at St. Margaret's and I was in Medical Records. Then she ended up Director of Midwifery at BMC and I was the Office Manager. We used to argue about stuff all the time. A lot of people assumed we were married. :rommie:
