and I feel like I should take some time to play with him a little bit so he doesn't get lonely while the owner is away. Are there any constructive ways to play with a bunny that hops about the house all day?

Get him a girl bunny to chill with.
Would he enjoy it if I took Watership Down over and read to him from it?
I had a bunny when I was in grade school (well, he was my Uncle Mike's, but I took care of him). Basically, they just like to hop around. They don't play like cats or dogs do. When the weather was nice, I'd set up a big circle of wire fence in the yard and he'd hop around and eat grass. That made him happiest.

Sorry - but every time I read that sentence, I hear it in Elmer Fudd's voice...I raised rabbits for about 10 years or so.
Some of us are too mature for such shenanigans. It's a sad day when this is a lowly post 15 of the thread, with such a perfect thread title setup. You people disappoint me greatly. Apart from MeanJoePhaser, who has earned some serious kudos.![]()
