I am a little mystified

I didn't realize trunks were that big! Or maybe I'm just tall. I can't think of a reason why I'd ever need to fully climb into the trunk to get anything.

I'm not even 5'2" and I've never had to crawl into a trunk to get anything. I suppose I could, if I were say, sneaking into a drive-in, climb in and curl up and close the thing, but I can't imagine any circumstance that would require me to put my whole body in there to get something. It would have to be intentional for a full-grown woman to get into a trunk to the point that the lid could close. Maybe if it's like a 70's Buick.

I think this chick was killed by somebody who had the keys to her car. How do you suffocate in a trunk? They are not air tight. My trunk is accesable from my back seats. If I got stuck in it I woudl still have the air flowing from the front of my car to the back.

Why couldnt this chick break out her tail lights?

If she died of overheating I doubt kicking out the tail-light would have helped.

My main problem is - if she died in her car in the pub parking lot why didn't anyone hear her calls for help especially as she was last seen in the bottleshop at 1.50pm on a Saturday.

Beyond "boot" is "car park".

Are cars so rare in Tasmania that they have parks for them, like a mechanoid wildlife park, or are cars so popular that people decided to give them a place to play?

Why does a hotel have a bottle shop? Here in America hotels provide complimentary plastic and styrofoam cups right in your room.

Car park refers to the action of parking, not a leafy oasis. People park their cars in every corner of the world.

In the UK a bottle shop would be called an off-sales.

off-sales? you mean an off-licence surely?

I think the UN needs to form a committee to consolidate the English language. We have too many words that mean the same thing! :p

While most sedan/coupe trunks aren't tight enough to prevent flooding if the car goes into the water, many aren't ventilated enough to prevent a dangerous carbon monoxide buildup with the lid closed and a person inside. If you look at sites where utility workers have to enter manholes they usually insert a forced air duct into the manhole, even though they will be working down there with the manhole's lid off.

I'm 5'6" and could barely reach items against the seat back in the trunk of a 1990 Dodge Dynasty I used to have. I had to climb inside to change the bulbs in the center tail light. Fortunately the hinge springs still had plenty of strength. Kicking the tail lights out would have been impossible in that model since the reflector assembly was mounted outside the steel body structure, which only had a few small holes for mounting bolts.
