Hypothetical Sci-Fi Syndication Channel

My wife's big project for me lately has been to reorganize our home office. As I've been cataloging and organizing our TV and Movies on DVD and Blu-Ray, I've fantasized that were we to purchase licenses, equipment, etc., we could broadcast our own Syndicated Sci-Fi Channel. So, in my stalling, I put together a broadcast schedule, based ONLY on what we own on DVD or some other medium (keep in mind that if we obtain something before it's out on DVD, we ALWAYS buy it on DVD once/if it comes out in our Region).

So here it is (times are Central US):
The Maestro Skiffy-Syndi Channel
Times Monday—Friday
7:00-8:00 The Twilight Zone Hour
8:00-9:00 Superheroes (Heroes, The Flash, Smallville)
9:00-10:00 The Premonitions Hour (Tru Calling, Dead Zone)
10:00-11:00 Star Trek: The Next Generation
11:00-12:00 Buffy: The Vampire Slayer
12:00-13:00 Highlander Luncheon (Highlander, Highlander: The Raven)
13:00-15:30 Genre Films
15:30-16:00 Original Doctor Who
16:00-17:00 Space Station Hour (DS9/B5)
17:00-18:00 One Season Hour (Dresden Files, Bionic Woman, Firefly, The Crow)
18:00-19:00 Vampire Heroes (Forever Knight, Angel)
19:00-20:00 Prime Time Playground (Quantum Leap, Sliders)
20:00-21:00 Doctor Who/Torchwood
21:00-22:00 Battlestar Galactica (Old/New)
22:00-23:00 British Hour (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Being Human, Demons, Tomorrow People)
23:00-0:00 Star Trek
0:00-1:00 Alien Epics (Roswell, V)
1:00-2:00 Dead Like Me (uncut)
2:00-4:30 Rerun of the Genre Film
4:30-7:00 Paid Programming

My fantasy/library doesn't include weekends.

I would watch, but paid Programing maybe you should think of rerunning the
8:00-9:00 Superheroes (Heroes, The Flash, Smallville)
11:00-12:00 Buffy: The Vampire Slayer
12:00-13:00 Highlander Luncheon (Highlander, Highlander: The Raven)On Saturday Night, and capping the evening with 18:00-19:00 Vampire Heroes (Forever Knight, Angel)
Sunday can be organized like this
19:00-20:00 Prime Time Playground (Quantum Leap, Sliders)
20:00-21:00 Doctor Who/Torchwood
21:00-22:00 Battlestar Galactica (Old/New)
22:00-23:00 British Hour (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Being Human, Demons, Tomorrow People)
Followed by Paid Programing for Fans,Conventions etc.

What do you think of my Weekend schedule for you?

Throw in some Mystery Science Theater 3000 along with Batman the Animated Series/Superman the Animated Series/Justice League/Justice League Unlimited/Batman Beyond.

You have Paid Programming on DVD?:)

Heh, gotta get money to fund this channel somewhere. If they pay you to play their DVDs, do it!

Great channel lineup. My only complaint would be that the channel can get very repetitive in a short period of time. Especially concerning the single season series (Firefly, tosBSG, V, etc...)

But it's a great start. Gives you room to grow.

I was bored cleaning up the home office, so I threw this together, mainly to see if we actually owned enough media to do it, which, frighteningly we do. Only a fantasy.

A real Sci-Fi channel would run these in syndication, but would also include shows like Stargate(s), MST3K, 1960s Batman, Superman (many, many of them), The Outer Limits, SeaQuest, Earth 2, Blake's 7, Space: 1999, US Life on Mars, and so forth.

It would also have *decent* original programming. The current Skiffy really poured all its sci-finess into BSG and then was done. Flash Gordon and Dresden really could have been something. And the hell with the big screen, a really Sci-Fi channel would have sat down with F. Paul Wilson ages ago and done the Repairman Jack books BSG-mini/Razor style -- which is also how they should have done Dresden.

Somebody buy me a UHF station and let me go wild. SyFy, my ass.
