Hydran Pegasus-Class Cruiser

Hey guys. I'm nearing the end of my work on Distant Kingdoms for Federation Commander, and I wanted to post up one of the last ships I've been working on for it.

This is the Hydran Pegasus-class, an oddball among the Hydran fleet. Before the fall of the Hydran homeworld, the Pegasus was designed as a large multi-purpose police and anti-piracy vessel. It was not really intended for heavy combat and had a great deal of cargo space for a variety of missions. When the Klingons and Lyrans invaded and captured Hydrax, pushing the remnants of the Hydran race back to the Old Colonies, the remaining ships of this model found themselves being put into more dangerous and vital missions due to the Hydrans' lack of resources. Eventually, the Hydrans retook their capital and the Pegasus design continued to endure, finding itself adapted and rebuilt into a number of special mission variants, all of which it performed well. When the Hydrans eventually adopted the use of fast patrol ships, they found the Pegasus was an ideal design for a tender, as its large, broad wings allowed plenty of space for mounting the mech links where the gunboats would dock.

Tell me what you guys think:

I love the retro look. It looks like something from the 50s. It's not sleek or menacing, but I like the work-horse feeling it gives. Big, slow, graceful, but hard to kill. :)

The only things I'm a bit conflicted are the hexagonal "thing" on the bow and the hexagonal exhaust on the rear. I dunno, maybe something circular would be better. Or, completely opposite, something more complex.

Great work! :techman:

Adam could you give us a fleet scale chart for the Hydran ships to show us how big they are to each other Thanks
Keep up the great work by the way :techman:

Yes, they are wacky little walking trashcans, aren't they? :)

Bernard: I'll try to make such a chart as soon as I get some free time.

Thanks guys!
