Husnock Warship and Enterprise D 1/5000 Scale

Back in 2017 I was looking for any information the members here might have related to the Husnock warsuip shown in the STTNG episode "The Survivors"...

Screencaps of the Husnock warship:

At the time, there wasn't much info available but, since then, that is no longer the case. Eventually orthographics diagrams became available and with the advent of 3D prinitng techinology I was able to commission a printed model of the ship in 1/5000 scale in 2024.
At 1/5000 scale the model measured almost 8 inches long and was heavy for its size. The resin used was quite dense and not easily sanded.

Attached are some photos of the model on my workbench...

Here's a short in-progress video I put together...

After much prep work and detailing of the model on my part a base was constructed:

Application of Duplicolor filler primer yielded a workably smooth surface:

The model was airbrushed with Humbrol steel gray enamel:

Darker grey accents were added using Tamiya light and dark gunmetal pastel powders:

This short video explains the process of applying the chalks:

Aft engine vents decaled. Grills painted dark grey:

That's all for now. Thanks for looking. More to come...

After 3 coats of gloss for window decaling:

I had these window decals custom printed by my decal guy on All Scale Trek; the same guy who printed the Husnock ship. He goes by the name MeatloafR on the site:

Windows done. Need to finish the base next:

MeatloafR also provided this 1/5000 print of the Enterprise D to go along with the Husnock ship…

Size comparison with Husnock warship. Riker said in the episode that the Husnock ship was five times the mass of the Enterprise:

Masking upper saucer phaser strips with vinyl tape meant for curves:

Nacelles and Saucer painted with Humbrol Fiery Red, Trainer Yellow, and Medium Grey enamel:

Wallpaper decals went on first followed by various detail decals.
These were custom decals printed by MeatloafR:

Louvered fan shaped storage bay hatches on lower saucer and front of secondary hull were hand made by me using a sharp pencil and tiny strips of thin black decal material cut from old leftover decals and layed on by hand before sealing:

All done!
