Hurndall or Hartnell

Not really. Lazenby was just another incarnation of James Bond (albeit not a popular one who only appeared in one film), whereas Hurndall was portraying the same incarnation.
No, the first four Bonds really are the same character, and you can prove it with Tracy. The "This never happened to the other fellow" line in OHMSS notwithstanding, there's a sequence in the film when Bond goes through his desk after he resigned, and he's lost in reverie as he finds things from Dr. No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger. Then, the opening sequence of Diamonds are Forever is Bond avenging Tracy's death, something that happened to a different actor. Later in Moore's You Only Live Twice, his Bond visits Tracy's grave, and her date of death refers back to OHMSS. Finally, there's a reference to Tracy in Licence to Kill -- Leiter tells his wife that Bond was married once, but it was a long time ago.

Brosnan is probably the same person, but the connections are not as direct.

Craig's Bond is a wholly separate character.

^ With Brosnan, you have the nods to previous gadgets in DAD. And the fact that he's referred to as "a Cold War relic" by M in Goldeneye.

I keep reading the thread title as "Heimdall or Hartnell". Maybe they should hire Idris Elba as the next Doctor and place bets on tabloid headlines.

Hartnell, now that I have seen a few of his stories on and off in the last decade or so. Before that I would have gone with Hurndall.

Its actually 'For Your Eyes Only' when Moore visits Tracys grave. 'You Only Live Twice' is a Connery Bond.

The thing about Hurndall is that, consciously or not, he's playing the 1st Doctor of late season three - the cuddly old man rather than the dangerously unpredictable one of season one. But as seasons one and two are largely intact, it's the earlier side of Hartnell's performance that we tend to use a comparison to Hurndall.
That said, when I've seen Hurndall in other series - like The Power Game, where he played Michael Jayston's boss in the third season, and was one of the main antagonists of the central character - his performance is far more reminiscent of the early, hard-edged Hartnell.
