Humans and aliens may share common DNA

Of course, this does mean more inter-species sex, right? :bolian: [Riiiiight - someone]

20 types of amino acid... so all of them then ;) (well all the standard life ones, mr pedantic whose already hitting 'reply with quote' :p )

And Amino acids are not the same thing as DNA. It's like saying we share a language with the Japanese because we both use ink to write with.

As the article says, its simply a matter of consistent application of thermodynamics. What is chemically stable in one part of the universe is chemically stable in a another, this isn't particualrly surprising. In fact, what would be a radical discovery is if the laws of thermodynamics weren't the same on an alien world.

Even if they share certain similar genese sequences, human being would STILL have a better chance of mating with stawberries than aliens. Right now the closest thing to us genetically is the chimp, and mating with them generally doesn't turn out so well.

Say, how did we get a sexually transmitted disease from monkeys anyway..? ;)

It isn't whether you win or lose, it's the taking part that counts.

;)

Isn't that why NASA is obsessed with its "Origins" programs? NASA is probably already convinced life originated elsewhere.
