'Hullabaloo' is a 2D (hand-drawn) animated steampunk film that hopes to help preserve the dying art of 2D animation; and by supporting this project, you get to help save 2D animation from an untimely demise. We want you to join us in making a short film that will showcase the world of Hullabaloo, which we can show to investors to fund a full length 2D feature. 2D animation is a beautiful but dying art form that the animation studios have all but abandoned. But if we can fund this film with your help, we will be able to show investors that people really do want to see a feature length animated steampunk film, allowing us to get the tremendous amount of funding needed to complete Hullabaloo as the full-length feature we believe you want to see.
In addition to helping save 2D animation, Hullabaloo aims to encourage girls to explore science and adventure. The film's two protagonists are both young women and both scientists who use their intellect, wits, and courage to fight greed and corruption. We hope that Veronica Daring and her friend Jules will serve as positive role models for girls of all ages and encourage them to get excited about science, engineering, and sci-fi.

Hullabaloo-An Animated Steampunk Adventure

Personally, I don't think that 2D (cel) animation is dying; it's still being done in Japan and South Korea, and many movies/TV shows are still done in cel animation in both countries (as well as also still in North America, like Young Justice, Phineas & Ferb, and a few others.) But all the same, this is great work from these animators.

Some test animation:

The show's being crowd-funded, and it will be free of any interference from studio bullshit (Indiegogo Steampunk funding) so people who are fans of steampunk had better start giving them money to meet their goal.

I don't have the extra money to contribute to this kind of stuff, but I am following the production. They've been adding shorts as the money has gone up, and I think they're up to either 3 or 4 now.

Neither do I, but FWIW, I hope that they succeed, and find a buyer from one of the cartoon/youth channels in the USA and Canada (obvious choices being Nick, Cartoon Network, YTV [Canada] and Teletoon [also a Canadian channel.]) If not, they could try SyFy.

Unfortunately, that Indiegogo campaign ended on October 1st. On the plus side, they had a $80,000 goal and raised over $470,000. But I would have loved to have contributed. Not just for the sake of supporting 2D animation, but it's great to see a project that presents scientific role models for young girls at in a time when gender stereotypes are making such a big comeback. I hope their movie is ultimately successful.

So is this going to be a full length film too, or just the shorts?

According to the website, the short film will be used to sell a full-length movie to investors.
