RIP Hulk Hogan

RIP to one of the GOATs. He was and always will be a childhood hero of mine.

I wasn't really following wrestling when he was at the peak, but that whole Hulkamania phase really did put WWF/WWE on the map. When I was younger I remember him mostly for some of his acting roles, like the forgotten show Thunder in Paradise or Mr. Nanny. It's kind of hard to remember him fondly because of all the bad stuff that has come out over the years, but I don't think there is any doubt that the character of Hulk Hogan is an iconic part of americana lore.

He was the answer to a trivia question on my local morning radio show recently, where the host asked the contestant whether or not Hulk Hogan owned a chain of Italian restaurants called 'Pastamania!', and of course, the answer was True and the host played an old commercial featuring Hulk Hogan.

It's not a forgotten show!

I guess to some people it's not. I don't see it on streaming though, and this is a show that should go on to one of those free streaming services like Tubi. One missed opportunity of the streaming era is not putting some of these failed/forgotten/little shows on free streaming. Same can be said about something like Space Above and Beyond. Popular in the 90s but really short lived and I haven't seen anything about it since. That's a show I wouldn't mind watching again.

There is a whole generation of first run syndicated shows that are just gone. No streaming, DVDs are out of print or were only made for overseas markets. There were so many shows -- Mutant X, Cleopatra 2525, Vanishing Son, War of the Worlds, Night Man, Cobra, Pensacola: Wings of Gold, Soldier of Fortune Inc., The Cape (the NASA one, not the superhero one), Air America, Lonesome Dove, Tracker (the Adrian Paul one, not the Justin Hartley one). Of course, most were garbage but they still had fans and art should be preserved. Team Knight Rider's only physical media is a German box set with everything Knight Rider in it except the NBC revival, but at least it's out there in the streaming world, including being free with ads on Fandango and Roku.

The golden age of syndication, before everything was replaced by infomercials.

It's sad his reputation was so deep in the toilet and he never managed to dig it out.

Guy was booed out of the building last time he was on WWE. And not in the good/intended way.

Suburban Commando was awesome. Best thing he ever did.

He was an urepentant racist, so I don't find it "sad" that he got booed so badly the last time he appeared on screen. He made no effort to make up for the things to did and didn't deserve forgiveness without doing the work.

I enjoyed him as a child (always preferred Macho Man though) and he was certainly hugely charismatic and an essential part of WWF taking over the world. I still find some of his old interviews amusing to watch.

I grew up watching him in the 1980s. He was someone that i fanboyed over as a kid. He was bigger than life back then. He was the wresting hero to so many even though he was far from being a hero IRL.

May God judge him accordingly.

Not by me. I had it on as late Sunday night background ambience back in the day. As usual, this show---and the film NO HOLDS BARRED-----weren't even mentioned in the Washington Post obit. They seem to feel obligated to omit ''key works,'' such as they are. They left in his reality show, which I'D never heard of until yesterday.
