HP computers are racist

Dusty Ayres

According to the two people in this video, the face tracking tech can't detect darker-skinned people well:

Glad that I bought all of my components and then had them assembled to create my computer.

Programmers are lazy, but they are lazy because certain things never cross their mind. They are human so it is ok. I am sure that HP will fix this.

Well it is the testers who have really fallen down here, but ultimately it is probably because the software relies on contrast and shadow to work effectively, and therefore will have more trouble with a dark than light face.

It could actually be the low-res of the camera as much as the software at fault.

"My blackness"
"Why the HP webcam does not pick up Negros" :guffaw:

This vid is hysterical! In all seriousness, though, it probably is having a hard time doing color/light balancing with the darker skin. They're following the facial features, when they should be following the features AND outline motion, but yes, methinks there was probably a lack of darker-skinned beta-testers when this product was being developed.

Still funny as hell though, and...he's got a point there...
