how would you reboot star trek?

If the time comes (it's not going to be any time soon), and they have the chance, they should do a complete, total reboot. What if Star Trek was thought up at whenever that point would be, instead of 1964? Then I'd go from there. It wouldn't be a sequel, prequel, or spinoff to anything else. No split-timeline either, as that's trying to have it both ways. Reboot would mean REBOOT.

Batman (1966), Batman (1989), Batman Begins (2005), and The Batman (2022) have nothing to do with each other. A reboot of Star Trek would similarly have nothing to do with what went before.

Even Doctor Who, who had a soft reboot in 2005, didn't trash the entire history

Depends upon where we are when that would theoretically happen. TV Reboots usually don't happen unless the studio runs out of ways to go forwards, backwards, or sideways. Or if the gap is so long (20 years, 30 years, or more) that it would be a totally different audience.

Same way you do Batman every 5 minutes. If Batman fans are intelligent enough to understand that what happens in The Batman doesn't follow on from Gotham, than Trekkies can understand an all-rebooted continuity isn't affected by scene 12 of episode 57 of series 4.

No one in 2005 would've imagined the 2009 Film would happen when it did or do as well as well as it did. No one in 2005 would've even imagined a Streaming Platform where there would be five overlapping Star Trek series almost two decades later.
