How would you kill off Jean-Luc Picard?

UPDATE! With Lyrics... "In the Federation..."

village.jpg

And they all began to sing!

Where can you find adventure
Search space for exterrestrials
Learn science technology
Where can you do the green broad
On the ship or planet surface
Where can you learn to fly a shuttle
Play in sports or explore space
Study astronomy
Sign of for the bridge crew
Or sit in the briefing room
When your team and others meet

In The Federation
Yes, you can explore the seven known galaxies
In the Federation
Yes, you can put your mind at ease
In the Federation
Come on now, people, make a stand
In the Federation, in the Federation
Can't you see redshirts need a hand
In the Federation
Come on, protect the Federation terrority
In the Federation
Come on and join your Starship crews
In the Federation
Come on people, and make a stand
In the Federation, in the Federation, in the Federation (in the Federation)

They want you, they want you
They want you as a redshirt crew

If you like adventure
Don't you wait to enter
The recruiting office fast
Don't you hesitate
There is no need to wait
They're signing up new redshirtss fast
Maybe you are too young
To join up today
Bout don't you worry 'bout a thing
For I'm sure there will be
Always a good starship crew
Protecting the planets and space

In The Federation
Yes, you can explore the seven known galaxies
In the Federation
Yes, you can put your mind at ease
In the Federation
Come on now, people, make a stand
In the Federation, in the Federation
Can't you see redshirts need a hand
In the Federation
Come on, protect the Federation terrority
In the Federation
Come on and join your Starship crews
In the Federation
Come on people, and make a stand
In the Federation, in the Federation, in the Federation (in the Federation)

Jean-Luc-Picardit: Blee Blee Bloo (Make it So!)

WHAT is that? :D

How about this. Polish Picard's head to such a high gloss that when he turns on the lights the reflected beams disintegrate the Enterprise.

If he were to go down on the bridge of his ship, I wish it were the E-D..."Yesterday's Enterprise", and "All Good Things" really did that well - killing him giving his all in battle or sacrificing his ship in a great feat of treknological martyrdom.

I also liked the idea upthread of dieing half Locutus, before the severing from the Collective shocked his system too far. …Maybe in some parallel dimension where Kirk merged with V'ger or Saavik took Spock's place at sciences after TWOK.

I think I'd kill Picard (not that there's any point in bringing this to screen - just in-universe) in bed on the vineyard after a long life serving the Federation. "On the bridge of his ship" I think should have been Kirk's death. Though, I like to think of it as Captain Sulu's on the Excelsior's...not for Sulu so much as us the fans.

I'd make Picard an ambassador the second half of his life, and a give him almost as many stories and achievements in that role as he had while in Starfleet. It seems natural for him that once he could no longer explore the galaxy (the physical requirements being too much for his mortal coil, and the part of him that was still as vibrant as ever, the inner diplomat) he could flourish as an ambassador. And part-time scholar, writing books on archeology and whatnot - like some former presidents write books today even with very active public lives.

One of Ambassador Picard's greatest achievements at some point may be in aiding Ambassador Spock at the end of his life in the uniting of the Romulan and Vulcan peoples...a great feat on Spock's part (doing so in his lifetime) but that's not too hard to imagine with a member of TOS crew. But I can really see Picard in ambassadorial garb representing the Federation abroad, ending hostilities, settling disputes, uniting peoples, on and on. His greatest sole diplomatic achievement maybe being something entirely new, not for any other reason than the inner fan wanting more of a good thing.

I can also see him finally bringing the Klingons into the Federation, what with his past with them and his friendship with ambassador/governor/High Councilor Worf.

On the other hand, movie-Picard would stay in Starfleet. I don't like him dieing on the E-E more or less as he might have in "YE", "AGT", any of the confrontations with the Romulans, risking the ship in a trektech saving of a world, etc...it almost cheapens them to me and makes his life after NEM just run-of-the-mill.

The movie-Picard I could see as an admiral in a ship-based position - growth without change. How about commanding a Federation fleet exploring beyond the reaches of the galaxy? TNG: Outbound Flight...a merging of the Enterprise's original mission of exploring beyond the reaches of known space in "Encounter at Farpoint", and a larger-than-life fan-expectations for our perpetually upwardly-mobile heroes - I mean, Jesus, they made Archer president of the UFP!

Admiral Picard could spend the second half of his life in command of a fleet, this time on a long procession of missions and adventures reaching another galaxy, exploring it, and then colonizing it part of the Federation. Whole new friends and foes would be met abroad...the bio-conglomerate Cchaab species, the alienly amoral Gko'wvatO'hrakk, the vampirically decadent Jatannu, the plycorporeal Fa AI's, etc, etc. ...For familiarity's safe, there might be a competitor Sheliak or Breen settlement, and Vulcano-Romulan or Klingon separatists from within the expedition causing trouble too.

And who knows, maybe this E-E Admiral Picard would go down on the bridge of his ship, making a difference for exploration, diplomacy, or the innocent...or die in his bed back in Labarre after returning heroically from the New New World. Or on a horse riding accident, like Laurence on his motorcycle back from Arabia.

Whatever his future, I see him being bugged by Q every now and again. I don't want to see him made into a Q or saving them from themselves, as I think it would detract from the Q really being waaaaaay beyond anything we know, and there being rhyme and reason to Q's bugging Picard but without making him some uberhuman Messiah. Picard I feel is just a prime example of the type of future that awaits all people in the Star Trek universe, not too different (beyond the larger-than-life conceit of most literature) from any good mensch from any time, in any universe.

how bout this?

Force him into being an 80's new wave band - Make him sound like hes a bad captain, beating on evil gay acting ensigns?

Trek Whip it! (or in this case, Whip Wesley, Whip him good!)

Devo-ga02.jpg

"Whip Wesley Crusher, Whip him Good!"

Crack that whip
Give the ensign a pat
Step on Beverly's crack
Break ensign's back
When an acting ensign comes along
You must whip him
Before the gay comes out
You must whip him
When somethings going wrong
You must whip him

Now whip him
Into shape
Shape him up
Make him straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect gay
Its not too late
To whip him
Whip wesley good

When a good things end
You must whip wesley
You will never live it down
Unless you whip wesley
No one gets away
Until they the acting ensign

I say whip wesley
Whip him good
I say whip wesley
Whip him good

Crack that whip
Give the ensign a pat
Step on Beverly's crack
Break ensign's back
When an acting ensign comes along
You must whip him
Before the gay comes out
You must whip him
When somethings going wrong
You must whip him

Now whip him
Into shape
Shape him up
Make him straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect gay
Its not too late
To whip him
Whip wesley
Into shape
Shape it up
make him straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect gay
Its not too late
To whip him
Whip wesley good
