To the best of my knowledge, CBS all access is American only. Which means I'll be unable to watch the show when it airs.

I don't understand what you are trying to say. I went back and re-read it here and got:
Press release said:CBS Television Studios announced today it will launch a totally new Star Trek television series in January 2017. The new series will blast off with a special preview broadcast on the CBS Television Network. The premiere episode and all subsequent first-run episodes will then be available exclusively in the United States on CBS All Access, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service.
The next chapter of the Star Trek franchise will also be distributed concurrently for television and multiple platforms around the world by CBS Studios International.
Correct Showtime has their own subscription service for streaming VOD.From everything I've read from CBS about their plans for All Access, I've never had the impression that CBS is planning to bundle All Access with another service.
Right now, you can watch every Star Trek series on Netflix. I wonder when their contract with CBS ends and if CBS will license the shows to Netflix again, or if they will make them only available on CBS All Access.
Does anyone know when the contracts end? I'm guessing by January 2018 for season 2 start at which if CBSAA takes off they will make Trek exclusive to it & one other service. You can watch all of the Star Trek series on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and CBS All Access.
