How TV Ruined Your Life

Seriously?

It made me hope that a future like the one depicted in Star Trek was just around the corner.

It clearly is not, thus far. Bah humbug, I say. :borg:

I'm assuming it's a parody of "the world is ending" news. Remember when we were supposed to all die from bird flu?

I think it's more of a parody of those speculative disaster shows. that come up with some plot and then tell you how it would go down, like down to the second.

Technically, we're all dying.

That just doesn't sound like Brooker's style, as I know it anyway.

Well he has worked on Brass Eye, so I don't see why this wouldn't be his style. Given that the parody programme is called "If..." I'd guess it's not supposed to be the news.

Unless I'm misremembering though, he did a whole news parody thing about guys who can't piss when other people are around them. I just figure this would be more in line with that.

Well since he's on 2 shows already that parody the news I'd think he might want to stay away from parodying the news on this show.

Except the video in the link is a parody (and not a very funny one at that) of recent spectulative disaster shows like What if, so em.. clearly that is his style?

I thought it was spot on. Though those shows can be ridiculous anyway.

Well that was amusing, but frankly I've seen the "OOh weren't public information films funny" thing done before just as funnily (the humour basically writes itself)

Might have been more amused at his notion that we're all being made fearful over nothing had not a work collegue of mine been run over today by some idiot who figured red lights were optional...
