How to see what new shows/movies have been aired?

See, I can't even have proper flashbacks to that because the highlighter fumes gave me brain rot.

It's funny these days, I'm only peripherially aware of what channels alot of my shows are on. I just look a show up on the DVR and tell it to record the series, bedamned of the channel.

Finding out when your favorite TV shows were on was extremely difficult back in the dark times before the rise of the internet. I know, I lived through the pre-internet horror. We had to buy TV Guides or newspapers and thumb through them manually. The papercuts, oh god, the papercuts were so traumatic. Sometimes you could get a nasty infection, and you wouldn't even have WebMd to tell you what it was, so it just festered. We're all just a bunch of thumbless feverish mutants now, wandering the Earth in search of a home... But I digress.

I still can't sleep comfortably at night, the shell-shock dreams of discovering by TV Guide that the show I liked was new minutes before it started? Those memories still haunt me.

And the pressure of programming the VCR? Oh... oh, GOD!

I still have nightmares of the blinking 12:00.

It's burned into my retina, I can't NOT see it!

But, yeah, today I'm a lot like you I, find I show I like, Series Pass on the DVR and then forget about it. Hell, I've literally NO idea what channel number corresponds to what station and it can take me several minutes to scroll through my list of 100+ channels to find a station when I DO need to "tune in" to things.

I laugh at those U-Verse commercials with kids lamenting that "kids have it easy these days" because of the options U-Verse offers over what the kids grew up with (only two tuners on the DVR, TV and the receiver needing to be in the same room, connected to one another.) Heh, kids, it was much, much worse when I was a kid. They're not days anyone looks back on fondly.

Why is CBS in my area called "Channel 5" but the cable company assigned it channel 12?!

My viewing decisions were a lot easier around 2001, because the only television show I watched regularly was Enterprise.
