How to put Shatner/Original Kirk in while keeping Jj Abram's story intact: At the end when old Spock returns to hiw own time( if that is what happens) have him caught of guard with history being intact but James t. Kirk is alive despite the events at Veridian 3.
Young Spock and Captain Pike left an encrypted note to Starfleet not to be accessed until the 24th Century. A Security-Medical team was there to save Kirk. Picard's memory was altered by having him injected to forget what happended fully. Section 31 would have arranged it and Kirk would be put into hiding until needed again. Can all be explained off screen and be believeable.

Perhaps Spock could have the photo of the Original crew from ST VI in his place and walk past it, longingly look at it and watch as Kirk's face disappears and is replaced by Pike's. Why Spock would not be altered by this I have no idea but that's why I'm not writing this movie.

It was Ron Moore's idea to kill Kirk. Perhaps he could use his moderately-enjoyable "Battlestar Galactica" show to issue an official apology to Shatner and de-canonise Kirk's death.

The probably, of course, would be that nobody watches Battlestar Galactica!
