How the FRAK did THAT get made?

Not always, but in many cases the answer to the OP’s query can be summed up by the acronym ISLAGIATT.
Can someone translate this acronym, please? I can't begin to figure out what it stands for.

In my own city: City Hall, in Its Divine Stupidity, authorized an addition to one of the long-standing downtown stores when it ceased to be a store and was turned into a mix of boutiques, restaurants, and offices. The addition is several storeys higher and has glass windows much like those in one of the photos upthread (except ours are vertical, not slanted). This building is one of the ugliest ones I've ever seen - and the windows are situated so as to reflect the Sun directly into the eyes of both drivers and pedestrians in both morning and afternoon. I'm surprised nobody has been killed because somebody literally couldn't see where they were going.

Not to mention the dead birds who fly into the glass... :(

I read your entire post, Timewalker, and I see that your town apparently did what mine did.

But If anyone, ever, is to ask me what it was about, I probably will only remember this:

/.../ the dead birds who fly into the glass...

How the FRAK does that happen?

:p

That's actually a fairly interesting-looking building. What was it going to be, had they finished it?

I saw these products in the Pet Store the other day. Do they not realize how wrong that statement is???????

"Petheads" is also the name used by fans of Pet Shop Boys. Though I highly doubt that Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe would have licensed the name for a product like this.

Oh but they did finish it! -it was in use for a couple of months as a shopping center and a multiplex cinema (about a quarter of a mile from another newly build shopping center and multiplex cinema) and IKEA had an outlet in it for a couple of weeks.

Indeed, the architecture isn't too bad for this day and age; the corner you see to the right is even acute, giving the whole entrance a sort off ship's bow appearance when viewed from across the street -where the old North gate to the town was and where the pedestrian area has it's northernmost point today.

How else do you explain Xanadu?

HOWEVER!!! The "meeting of the bands" scene in Xanadu is an absolute classic representation of the universality of music. I've just about worn out that stretch of a VHS tape. (Yes, I'm that old!)
