Evans, who sits on the Culture Media and Sport select committee, told The Daily Telegraph: "Relying on such an overkill of one particular person is freezing out a lot of opportunity for a lot of up and coming people.


"Even the most dedicated fan might have thought that the BBC was turning into the David Tennant Corporation. I know thanks to digital TV we have 200 channels, but 200 channels of David Tennant doesn't seem to be much choice."


A BBC spokesperson insisted: "These appearances were spread over several weeks and channels. We would not expect any one audience to see more than a handful."

I don't know when the BBC manage to get 200 channels, or manage to schedule David Tennant across them all. But he just makes himself sound like a tosser with that remark.

By the way, I enjoy seeing David Tennant as well. He's easy on the eyes, quite funny and lively and entertaining. I really don't know where the problem is. He's not the one who schedules BBC programming and therefore he's not to blame for the repeats. As for his other appearances: well, it's his last episode as the Doctor, so naturally he'd be doing interviews and stuff like that. I'm sure we'll see a lot more TV appearances by Matt Smith before the new series starts.

Pre-xactly! And it's always entertaining to see what he's wearing. I've actually been checking out the Cbeebies Bedtime Story to see Tennant, on youtube. He's even entertaining reading bedtime stories to the babies!

its possible celebrity interviews are filmed, ever listen to Steve Wright in the Afternoon, nearly all the celebrity interviews are pre recorded.

Also if the BBC Breakfast interview could be a repeat from earlier on the show, when it was live, they do that sometimes.

He was on GMTV first (not sure of the time, but before 8 am, I think). Then he was on BBC Breakfast I think about an hour later. By that time, GMTV were repeating part of their interview, so it did look as if he were in two places at once, especially with wearing the same gear. In the GMTV interview he said that it was to be the last time he'd be on the telly talking about a new episode. (But I've been around fandom long enough to know that isn't necessarily the case... )

So what if he's promoting Doctor Who? Like the BBC have said, no one is going to watch every single thing he's on. And what a load of bollocks about him being on TV "at the expense of other actors". Are other actors playing the Tenth Doctor? No.

Frankly the BBC are getting their money's worth. Presumably Tennant is paid quite a handsome sum for DW, so if the BBC says "jump", all he should say in response is "How high?"

Caught Tennant on a repeat of the Alan Carr show just after midnight today. So, that's my first Tennant sighting of 2010. Sigh of relief. I was worried I was going to have to go most of the day without seeing him on the box.

The funniest one ever was the Tory MP who accidentally stumbled upon Eurotrash one late night. Comedy gold in parliament the next day. Especially since it had been running for years by that time.
