No, the Borg actually do strive for the so-called perfect balance between organic and synthetic. So if the perfect machine for the job involved biomechanical planet-raping tentacles, they'd build it.

Think 24th Century (and then some) synthesized Romulan/Borg technology let loose in the TOS era.

One 24th Century Romulan D'deridex Class would have made short work of an entire squadron of Constitution class vessels, at least until Jimmy Kirk showed up in Enterprise. Then it all comes down to who's the better dogfighter. The Narada is that much and more, on steroids.

That's what I was saying to my Trek freinds (after I heard about the Klingon fleet getting wiped out) But then after I saw the last two trailers I thought ''WOW!'' this ship is too powerful! But then again it ''is'' from the 24 century. I guess it would be like bringing a ''Tank'' or ''Machine Gun'' to the battle of the ALAMO! if the Texans had that kind of tech on there side, history would have been ''VERY'' differant!

Until I see otherwise I'm speculating that the NARADA is a specialized mining/technical service ship pressed into service as an Destroying Angel... Maybe some kind of harvesting/mining ship or deep-space service ship, possibly both. Sort of a Romulan mobile base.

Either way being from the Post Dominion era it's going to have some nasty technology at it's disposal. The shielding alone would be difficult to collapse.

Now, all Evil technology is required by law to have a weakness, one speculates this ship has some absurd and downright groanworthy weakness.

I'm betting Kirk will either seduce the computer control or illogical it into self-destructing.

I didn't say the Design was taken from the Borg, I said its technology might have been incorporated to some kind of extent. Its design might be something unique, but that doesn't mean internally, there are Borg components or at least technology that is based off Borg technology.

Modern ships can have old weaknesses, the design of the mine that severely damaged USS Samuel B. Roberts in 1988 dates back to ~1910 and is still in use today. Some stuff just continues to work.

No need for Borg technology, or any particularly advanced technology at all.

The Narada has one thing going for it, that gives it the only edge it needs: Future knowledge of the past.

Perhaps Nero even has access to long-declassified Klingon documents that tell him exactly where every ship in the fleet was at a specific instant in history, what direction each ship was facing, whether or not that ship's shields were up or down, etc. Analyzing such data might well make it possible for him to know the best possible instant to materialize within the fleet, and the most effective target order, all of which can be programed into the Narada's attack computer in advance.

So here is a possible scenario:

The Narada pops in from out of nowhere, and fires a barrage of pre-programmed shots, each of which hits its intended target with pinpoint accuracy. The attack comes on without warning, and shots are fired so fast that none of the targets has time to raise their shields or warn other ships in the fleet that an attack is underway. Most targets are destroyed or crippled before anyone on-board them realizes what is going, or has a chance to react in any significant way.

In the “Final Countdown”, the air wing of the USS Nimitz almost wiped out the Japanese fleet in 1941 before reaching Pearl Harbor. And F-14s took on a pair of Mitsubishi Zeros too. Nero taking on 23rd Starfleet or the Klingons with the Narada is bit like a modern destroyer or aircraft carrier taking on WWI-II era navies.

You know, I thought of that. Maybe the Narada has some ''fluidic space'' tech merged to the ship? Also do you think it possible that the ship ''may'' have some of that ''Future'' tech from ''Endgame''? I'm pretty sure the destruction Nero causes could be easiley accomplished with ''Transphasic'' torpedos! And the Narada may be able to withstand alot of punishment because it may also have some variation of the ''Ablative Hull'' armor tech from Voyager? Just a thought. I just want to say I'll be picking up the latest copy of ''Countdown'' Today, and there's suposed to be a pretty ''BIG'' plot point in this issue with regards to the ''Narada'' so I guess will find out what this ship is made of!?
