Suffice it to say I would have to know a HELL of a lot more to make an actual decision about that--basically, the whole financial picture, which I don't think is BBS discussion material. I would say it would be possible that I might take the money--but it would REALLY depend on the situation and I would try to avoid it if at all possible.

I guess it depends on why the daughter thinks $100 is too much, if it's because she wants to be able to save up quickly to put a down-payment on her own place then I'd probably make the rent as little as I could (bearing in mind Miss Chicken's comments about her friend's own wage - I think some contribution is necessary financially).

But if it's just so the daughter can have more spending money, then tell her to find out how much it'll cost to live by herself and be grateful she's only being charged $100.
