How Much of the Original Series Enterprise Is Left In the TMP era refit?

I have always been a TMP fan, but I do think that it might have been better if TOS 1701 was retired [not refit] to the fleet museum and the Enterprise in TMP should have just been a 100% new ship named 1701-A .
If I recall correctly Andrew Probert wanted to just call it a new ship and number it NCC-1801.

Which would help explain why it became a training ship such a short time later; the Enterprise was a fabulous testbed and helped pave the way for the next generation of starships, but ultimately could never take her place among them :wah:
This is actually my headcanon. The main purpose of the Constitution refit was to test bunch of new tech on their then best hull. They might have built some of these configurations from scratch, like the Enterprise A, but ultimately doing so was not deemed worthwhile. The actual production models were Miranda and Constellation classes, and these were then brand new, and remained in use for a long time. This is why I dislike the idea of TOS versions of Miranda or Constellation classes.

How much is original? About as much of the original USS Constitution is still in the ship as it floats today in Boston maybe. (Which isn’t much)
