How much did Mas Amedda know?

JD

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Do we know how much Amedda knew about who and what Paplatine was, and what all of his plans were? He did start out with Valorum in The Phantom Menace, so that could bring up some questions about how involved he was with Palpatine at the beginning, but he seemed to pretty much always be by his side once he came to power, and even stuck with him once he became Emperor. So was all of this just loyalty to Palpatine as the leader of the Republic/Empire or did he actually play some kind of active role in all of Palpatine's plotting?

I'm trying to remember the source, probably the Darth Plageuis novel, but I'm pretty Mas Amedda knew everything. Notice in ROTS when the Jedi Council shows up to arrest Palpatine and he just calmly and quickly walks out.

That was kind what I figured.
I'll admit, after I posted the thread it dawned on me to look him up on Wookiepedia, and it does say that he knew about Palapatine since before he was chancellor.

I wouldn't say he knew *everything* because we still don't know the full extent of Sidious's plans. Some of the recent books have him spending most of his time doing secretive Sithy things deep beneath the Imperial Palace (formerly, the Jedi temple) which some of the unproduced Ahsoka episodes of TCW would have shown to have been built on the site of an ancient Sith Temple.

Mas Amedda certainly knew Palpatine was a Sith and he was let in on certain aspects of his plans (mostly the Empire building side of things) but that's about it. One of the recent novels shows that he's pretty much lost without Palpatine following RotJ and (not surprisingly) has no real ambition or skill to deal with the Empire that just fell into his lap.

As for him starting out with Valorum, I think it's safe to assume he was Palpatine's man in Valorum's camp and conspired to help oust him. Of course it's still open to interpretation exactly when he knew Sidious's true nature and some of his grand schemes. Could have been before, could have been after.
One detail that might indicate the former is what happened to Sifo Dias. He was sent on a mission by Valorum when he went missing. It's possible Mas Ameda was the one that passed that information along to Sidious and allowed him to have Dias intercepted.
