MUFC won the league. Other teams that I follow have not fared so good. Hereford Utd were relegated. Worcester Cricket Club have been relegated. And my faveourite non-league team is now in receivership.

Another Cub fan here. Theres always next year right...?

Aside from that I'm a Green Bay Packers fan, last Super Bowl win was 1996.
Yep. I cheer for the Cubs when the Tigers aren't doing that well and that kind of thing. I love to see a team get out of a rut and make a go at it :).

The Lions' last championship was in 1957.
My mother was ten years old in 1957. :scream:
Damn, that's a long time ago. Way before I was born... I hope that they (the Lions) win a Super Bowl someday...

Before or after we're dead? :shifty:
The Lions? I'm placing my bets on after. :p

I'm a Detroit sports fan so lets see:

Red Wings last one the Stanley Cup in 2008
Pistons last one the NBA championship in 2004
Detroit Tigers won world series last in 1984
Detroit Lions are just piss poor. Last won a title in the 50's.

And since I'm in Minnesota now & do follow the NHL Wild they have never one the cup since they came to the league in '00.

Another Detroit native and fan here. I follow the Tigers and Wings more than the other teams.

WW1 Flying Ace, you forgot the Detroit Shock who won their third WNBA Championship in 2008.

I live in West Virginia now, WVU Mountaineers country. The Mountaineers mens basketball team last made the Final Four in 1959 (in fact that was their only time).
The American Football team is the winningest team in the Bowl Subdivision never to win a national championship. We just missed playing for the title in the 2007 season, losing to Pitt in our final regular season game.

My alma mater is Wright State University. The Raiders' hockey team won the ACHA Division III Championship in 2006, and the Men's Basketball Team won the NCAA Division II championship in 1983. Since moving to Division I the men's hoops team has made the NCAA tournament twice, most recently in 2007, but has been one-and-done both times. Wright State does not have an American Football team.

I am also a fan of the Washington (Pa.) Wild Things baseball team, of the independent (not affilliated with MLB) Frontier League. Since their first season in Washington in 2002 the Wild Things have been to the FL Championship Series twice but have lost both times -- most recently in 2007 to the Windy City Thunderbolts. In the 2007 series they won the first two games on the road (of a best of five), then had two chances to clinch at home. In the bottom of the 9th inning of game 4 they were trailing by one with the tying and winning runs in scoring position, with two outs. A well placed hit by the last batter would have won the championship but the batter struck out. I was at both games 3 and 4 of that series. The series shifted back to Metro Chicago for the 5th and deciding game which the Thunderbolts won. Needless to say that series was a heartbreaker for Wild Things fans.

Cleveland Indians - 61 years (second longest drought in MLB history)

With the Tigers choking their way out of the playoffs, it looks like I'll be looking to at least June before another Detroit squad has a shot at a championship.

In the wake of the World Series, even though I'm a huge Phillies fan, I have to be gracious in defeat and give a shout out to the long-suffering fans of the New York Yankees and how you guys had to perservere through those agonizing seven long years before finally winning your twenty-seventh championship. Really, I can't even begin to comprehend the torment you guys must have endured. It's almost Christlike.

Detroit Red Wings - Stanley Cup - 2008

We're doing terrible this year. Beaten by the Leafs? Hand over those paper bags, Leaf fans. I need it for my head.

:guffaw:Agreed! It's great how magnanimous you can be.

Personally, I don't have any real rooting interests in the MLB other than my hometown Diamondbacks and the New York Mets (my dad's favorite team). However, regardless of whoever else is playing, it's always preferable when the Yankees lose.:p (However, I still can't quite bring myself to pity Boston. Remember, the Boston Celtics are the NBA's equivalent of the New York Yankees.)

The Brumbies last won the Super rugby comp in 2004, beating the Crusaders. The coach was rewarded by getting punted.

Last time Cal went to the Rose Bowl was 50 years ago. Last time they won was 71 years ago.

Really? I'm intrigued by that observation. How did that come about?

Championships

I could go into stuff about Red Auerback, but I won't. The NBA has a salary cap these days, so it's not quite the same situation as the current Yankees, but they're historically comparable.
