In Australia, the biggest game in any of the football codes is the grand final. In AFL, it will be on Saturday, and in the NRL the weekend after that. At the moment, my team, is one of the last four left. It's been 23 years since the Eels last won.

So the question is, how many years has been since your favourite team (for the poll) since they last won the biggest prize in your favourite sport?

Only at the domestic level also.

Penn State last *officially* won in 1986, but they were undefeated in 1994 but not given the title of National Champions. College football doesn't always make sense that way.

My second favorite team won less than 12 months ago, though. :D

I'm so used to saying 1983, but now it's less than 12 months, which is something I didn't expect to see.

I'm a Detroit sports fan so lets see:

Red Wings last one the Stanley Cup in 2008
Pistons last one the NBA championship in 2004
Detroit Tigers won world series last in 1984
Detroit Lions are just piss poor. Last won a title in the 50's.

And since I'm in Minnesota now & do follow the NHL Wild they have never one the cup since they came to the league in '00.

2 years. The longest "drought" I've had to suffer since I became a fan was between 1995/96 and 2004/05, which was painful at times, but compared to other clubs not that long at all of course. I have to say though, that out the three championships Rapid won since I'm a fan, the 2004/05 championship was without any doubt the most enjoyable for me. So maybe it's comfort for some of you people who've been waiting for decades, that the longer you wait, the better it is. ;)

44 Years!
1965 was the year Kilmarnock won our one & only Scottish Football Championship. We beat Hearts 2-0 in Edinburgh to steal the title from them by 0.25 goals.:techman:

Killie have won the Scottish Cup in 1997, but we have never gotten close to the big one again.

Juventus F.C. won the Italian soccer championship in 2003.

Well, actually we came out first in 2005 too, but then we had a problem... :shifty:

This pretty much summarizes it for me too. I wasn't around when the Tigers last won the World Series (I was -3 at the time).

I'll add in Michigan winning a share of the national championship in 1997, and Grand Valley State winning it all in 2006.

It's been so recent, we haven't even raised the banner yet. :D

Manchester United won the Premiership title for the 2008/2009 season back in May, so it's been less than 12 months.

Atlanta Braves in 1995
Chicago Bears in 1985
Georgia Bulldogs in 1980

and I do always cheer for the Cubs if they're still in the mix... you know how long that's been.
