once with non trek pal who liked it but hated all the cgi and hard to see, quick action (he hates that in all movies that have it)

I saw it twice in a regular theater, and last night in an IMAX theater. Wow. Amazingly good, and I am not an AV geek who cares very much for high-def surrounding-sounding.

Thur night at a big IMAX theater in NYC
Sun morning matinee at a "regular-sized screen" IMAX that fares digital sound and video but the sound was off during the space jump sequence and the audience boooooooed. We complained and got free tickets. So I gotta use those to see it again.

I plan to see it once every week / weekend until it goes offline. Anyone plan to join the same movement?

Me neither; in fact, I carry ear plugs in case it's too much. But this was worth it.

just saw it once so far (saw earlier this afternoon). I saw it on IMAX. I went to the 12:30 showing, I wanted to see it without a big crowd. It was a lot busier then I thought. Now the theater wasn't fully packed but I would say it was 1/4 full. Thats pretty good for a early monday showing I think.

There was a pretty big drop in enjoyment for me after the second viewing. I think that part of that might be because there are more audience members now who are new to Trek and thus less laughter at the in-jokes.

The sound system is amazing. People were jumping out of their seats from the sounds of the movie freaking them out. It was awesome!
