Do you play the lottery where you live? If so, which game do usually play and how often?

I haven't really done much lottery playing, but I'm thinking about doing maybe one thing weekly, just a few bucks or something.

Any ideas what has the best chances of winning some big bucks?

I occasionally play Tattslotto - which is what it is called in Australia. I probably play about 10-12 times a year. I only play 10 games on each ticket and that costs me $4.40.

I also will play Keno in the very rare occasions I visit West Point Casino. I usually only go to the casino when my mother decides to go to one of the restaurants at the Casino. We have only been once this year and I spent $5 on Keno tickets while my mother was playing the pokies (slot machines).

The numbers that have the best chance of winning big bucks are those number over 31. These numbers don't have more chance of coming up but fewer people pick these numbers because many people use birthday numbers. Therefore if the higher numbers come up the dividend tend to be higher.

I'll play on very, very rare occasions. Usually it'll just be a scratch card or something... that way, I can kill a few minutes and maybe (maybe) win something while I'm at it.

I play Megabucks, or whatever it's called now; it comes out twice a week and the minimum jackpot is half a million, accruing drawing by drawing until somebody wins. It's a worthwhile investment, since it's just a couple of bucks that would have gone to potato chips or cookies anyway. :rommie:

Actually, it's not. The actual win money is always less than the price of the ticked compounded with the probability of winning. This is 100% true. That's the way lotteries make money. And they make a shitload of that.

On the other hand, most of the earning from lotteries goes to state, so I'm more than happy with people giving their money freely instead of having the state raising the taxes on everybody.

Win-win scenario. :techman:

I don't play it. I think the Lotto preys on people with low incomes or are down on their luck.

Played once, one of those multi million dollar multi state things.

There's no fun to it for me. It's chance with the odds insurmountably against you. Not like betting on greyhounds or even a casino.

I play once a week if I remember, not so much with any expectation of winning but it's ritualistic.

Then again, $5 a week for a chance to win millions is a decent enough trade off, they say you have a better chance of being struck by lightning and I've almost been struck been lightning twice, ya never know.

Only if you buy like a hundred lottery tickets. If you only buy one or two, you're out, what, a few bucks at most? Not exactly a chunk.

That's only true if you only play the lottery once in your entire lifetime, ever. If you buy a ticket even once a week, guess what, you buy like hundreds of lottery tickets and you're still not going to win.
