How many days of Trek?

Mistral

Vice Admiral
Admiral
How many days have you devoted to watching Trek? Here's what I came up with:

TOS-seen every ep 3 times min=237 hours
TNG- " " " 2 " " =352 "
DS9- " " " 1.5 " " =259.5 " (seen about half twice,half once)
Voy- " " " 2 " " =336 "
ENT- " " " 2 " " =194 "

plus at least 40 hours of the movies figuring 2 viewings ea. at 2/hrs ea.

Total=1418.5 hours divide by 16(as one day-other 8 hours of day used for sleep, sex, eating, etc)

Grand total-88.66 days! That's based on the following episode count:

TOS=79, TNG=176,DS9=173,VOY=168,ENT=97 according to Memory Alpha

And this is conservative estimate only-I KNOW I've seen some TNG,VOY,andDS9 episodes 3-6 times, maybe more. Jesus, that's a lot of days well spent! How much time have you spent?

It gets worse. You should have 178 for TNG since the 176 count considers Encounter at Farpoint and All Good Things only one episode, yet they are a full 100ish minutes. Same with DS9 - it should be 174.

TOS should be 80 if you count The Cage, TAS is 22, Plus each movie is about 2-3 episodes. TNG is actually 178 hours of tv, ds9 176, voy 172 and ent 98.

And think, Mistral, that's only time spent watching episodes. Most of us have probably spent an almost equal amount of time reading books, playing with action figures, going to conventions, perusing websites like this one, etc... Considering the amount of time invested makes it a lot easier to understand how people get so caught up in the details of these series.

I would try to count, but there are some episodes across all five shows that I simply cannot watch more than twice.

I took the numbers out of Memory Alpha-I wasn't dying for accuracy-just a rough count. Truthfully-I don't know HOW many times I've seen TOS-I haven't watched an ep in years but can still quote from it at will. As a kid there were only 3 networks and a local channel-and if it wasn't Gilligan's Island or I Love Lucy or Dick Van Dyke-it was Star Trek. The new shows pretty much only aired at night from 7-11. I may have seen "Trouble With the Tribbles" 10+ times. I was being CONSERVATIVE in my estimates!

There are still some ENT episodes I haven't seen; some of the movies I've seen only once and Nemesis not at all. Even so, counting only the reruns shown after the various shows ceased production, my total must be at least triple the total you've arrived at here. Just or TOS episodes, I'd have a hard time thinking of an episode I hadn't seen at least two or three dozen times during 70s syndication alone.

I couldn't even begin to accurately calculate this number. Honestly, I've seen every Ds9 at least once, every TNG at least 3-4 times (more for some of them) and every Voyager at least twice, with some of my favorite episodes in TNG and VOY anywhere from 10-11 times. I've seen all of season one and 2 of ENT at least once, and select episodes of seasons 3-4. I've seen various TOS episodes (though my TOS watching is disjointed so it's hard to tell).

Who knows!!! :)

I've seen every episode of Trek at least once, except for TAS (due to the fact that the latter was never uncut on German free-tv and I don't have the DVDs - yet). I've seen the movies several times (yes, even Nemesis). I've read numerous novels. I've played PC-games. And I've spent a tremendous amount of time with just thinking about Star Trek because I had nothing better to do.

A conservative estimate? Well, something like six months?
