How long can uncooked chicken sit out?

Now go take you lumps like a good boyfriend. Let her call you a dumbass for a bit then offer to go buy another chicken. ;)

after years of worshiping at the alter of Alton Brown, I've learned that one of the best ways of thawing a frozen critter is to either let it sit in the fridge in a covered bin or in a bucket of cool water. Depending on the weight of the bird, you could have to change the water. Chickens you might not have to change the water but turkeys you'd have to.

Rule of thumb is about 30 minutes per pound (still wrapped).

HTH

Chicken is super expensive here right now. It costs me $8 for two boneless skinless breasts of a decent size, a year ago it cost me under $5. Hell I can get a fully cooked rotisserie chicken for $9. Pretty rare I buy fresh chicken breasts these days. I buy a box of frozen ones for stir fry and such every now and then just because it's a bit cheaper.

In comparison, a pound of beef is around $3, a 2 pound dinner roast is $8, and a couple of nice pork chops are about $3.

Rgular price for my store (and I set the pricing for the meat) is $3.99/lb for Boneless-Skinless Chicken Breast. It'll often go on ad for either $2.99 or $1.99. It's the #1 seller in my department.

If it wasn't froozen by noon you have one very hot house or one really small chicken.

I would have felt how cold it was, and then took it's temp. You didn't do that so bye bye chicken.

We cooked it well and I live. No illness or additional bathroom time.

So you ask for our advice, many of us tell you (at least one of whom is an "expert" in the matter) not to eat it and you eat it anyway?

:wtf:
It is the strict policy of the TrekBBS that advice will be sought after, considered, and then promptly ignored.

Is this your first day?

Well, sure, I can see possilbly ignoring advice on matters of the heart, buying something, etc.

But matters of health? I'd think some precaution would've been taken.

Oh well.

Eh, if it was cooked well enough, there really shouldn't have been many health concerns.

If nothing else, it would just taste bad.
