How is Janeway sexy?

Commander Tuvok had sent an urgent com signal to his former Captain at Starfleet's Admiralty last week, requesting immediate and surreptitious assistance on Vulcan, but no word was forthcoming. Starfleet had placed a moratorium on all communication between Vulcan and all Federation colonies soon after his message had been sent. He wasn't even sure his message made it to her, nor what she could possible do to help him, but his years of experience serving with her on 2 different ships told him that it was logical to assume she was on her way.

As he arrived at the ancestral home of the legendary Vulcan, he hesitated. What if the Ambassador's widow refused him entrance again? How could he help if she feared him as much as she feared all Vulcans since it became common knowledge that Star Fleet's embargo was related to her family?

He stood outside the home and waited for an answer to his knock. Admiral Janeway would have called this refusal to use modern technology "quaint", but Tuvok looked at it as just another way to upset any Vulcans who dared to visit.

The door opened slowly and the human stood before him yet again.

"Good Afternoon, Commander. It is not an agreeable time to visit my humble home." she said quietly and with great dignity. "Nor is it safe for you or your career to be seen on my doorstep. I must ask you to leave again."

She tried to close the door but this time Tuvok placed his hand against it. "Perrin, it is not logical for you to bear this burden alone. I am willing to help. Allow me to do so."

Perrin smiled, "If it was within my power, Commander, but alas it is not. He will not let a Vulcan pass these doors, and I've already told you the only human he will let near besides myself is Captain Picard."

Tuvok shook his head, "That is impossible. The Enterprise is on a mission to the Beta Quadrant and at maximum warp could not return for another 4 months. Did you not explain that to him?"

Perrin sighed, "Of course I did, but you know how stubborn these men can be in their old age."

Tuvok nodded. "I will return tomorrow, in case he relents. Until then, Perrin."

"Life long, and prosper, Commander Tuvok." she said softly as he removed his hand and the door closed between them.

Tuvok turned and walked away from the ancestral home of two of Vulcan's most famed sons, and calculated the odds that Admiral Janeway would reach them in time.

Tuvok scanned the manifests of all incoming ships docking throughout Vulcan, looking for a familiar name. He no longer just looked at those ships coming from Earth since that traffic had fallen off dramatically after the first day of Vulcan's quarrantine. Unfortunately not every ship posted their passenger lists and he would meet the most likely ships at port to watch as the passengers disembarked.

It wasn't like he was shirking his own Star fleet duties to do this research. He had returned home for his Ponn Far reunion with T'Pel and soon after his blood fever broke they became aware that a crisis had occured between the Federation and Vulcan. He could no more leave Vulcan and return to his ship than he could force Perrin to allow him entrance within her home.

As he prepared to leave yet another spaceport empty handed, he heard a freighter Captain arguing with a Vulcan Port Officer about his cargo. He would have simply walked on except something struck him about the woman draped on the Captain's arm, and he stopped to listen.

"I don't care what your records show, I haven't been anywhere near the K9 sector, nor would I EVER consider transporting those damnable puff balls! I did that once, YEARS ago and it took me three months to dig them out of the machinery!"

The Port Officer kept looking at his pad and up at the ship sitting on his landing pads. "This is 'The Erstwhile', is it not?"

The captain rolled his eyes at the obvious, as he was standing directly under the name painted on the ship's bow. "Yes."

The Vulcan checked off something on the pad, "And you are Captain Thadiun Okona, wanted by Federation authorities on 2 different colonies."

Okona took exception at this. "Yes and NO! I am Captain Okona, but the charges on both colonies were dropped ages ago. I'm sure if you com them they will clear up this misunderstanding immediately."

The Port Officer looked at the outrageous human with equanamity."We are unable to com any other Federation world at the moment, something which I'm sure you are aware." Okona shrugged his shoulders at the woman attached to his arm as the Vulcan went through his checklist once more. "Our standard protocol is to refuse you entrance to our world, Captain Okona, until we can be assured you are being truthful. Your choice is to stay here in our holding area, or to leave Vulcan immediately."

Tuvok moved to the side so he could get a better look at the Captain when suddenly a deep throaty voice spoke up to ask, "Officer, it I may be so bold to inquire, is there any restriction on me visiting your world?"

The Starfleet commander would have smiled at the sound of her voice, if Vulcans did that kind of thing, and he started forward towards the trio as they officer started to look through his pad for THAT protocol. "And you are?" he asked as he readied himself to run a criminal search on her name.

The woman smiled, "Phoebe Janeway, I'm originally from Bloomington, Indianna on Earth, but have been living on Kronos for the last 3 years studying with their art masters."

As the Vulcan started his newest search, Tuvok came up behind him. "Madame Janeway, I apologize for not meeting you when you arrived, your Captain obviously made better time than he predicted. Would you like to go directly to the gallery, or to your quarters?"

The auburn haired woman smiled widely at the tall dark Vulcan before her as she responded, "My quarters would be heavenly. Captain Okona's ship, though piloted expertly, was a little short on creature comforts."

Okona scoffed behind his hand as he suggested that wasn't what she said "last" night. Tuvok could see her carefully step on one of Okona's feet to stop any further revelations as the Vulcan Port Officer looked up from his pad.

"There are no current warrants out for you, Madame Janeway. You may proceed to customs."

Captain Okona looked at Tuvok and gave him a head nod towards the ship, "Since I'm stuck here, can you help me with her baggage Mister....?"

"Tuvok." answered the Vulcan.

"Mister Tuvok, right. You know women, they never can travel with just one jump bag." and Okona began carrying down the first of 5 bags, which caused Tuvok's eyebrow to rise significantly as he turned to Janeway.

"Three years was a long time on Kronos. One tends to accumulate things when you're in one place that long." she explained with a smile.

"Indeed." he answered as he picked up four bags, while she grabbed the remaining suitcase. "This way, Madame. I'll call for a transport once we clear customs."

"Thank-you, Mr. Tuvok." She then turned back to Okona to whisper a goodbye. "You are a good friend, Thad, too good."

He leaned down to ask if she wanted him to wait and she shook her head. She knew it was too dangerous for him to remain at a Federation facility any longer than absolutely necessary. Once the com traffic started again and they knew he was a wanted man, he would be arrested and his ship confiscated... again. He smiled forlornly at her decision, then kissed her goodbye.

Tuvok readjusted the 4 bags he was carrying several times as he waited for the kiss to end. He finally considered putting them down when Janeway pulled away at last. She touched his face gently one last time, then turned to follow Tuvok to customs without a backwards glance.

They didn't even stop at Tuvok's home. The need was too urgent and the risk too great in case the Vulcan High Command became aware of her presence on their planet, so Tuvok and Janeway traveled directly to Perrin's home in the transport. Beaming in would have been faster, but also more noticable to the authorities watching the house.

As they pulled up to the front door, Tuvok tried to get out when Janeway laid a hand on his wrist to stop him.

"No, Tuvok. From everything you've just told me, your presence will not help us in our mission. Wait at home until I call for you." She smiled that familiar half grin that he knew meant she'd listen to any arguments he'd bring to bear on this decision but ultimately would not change her mind.

"As you wish, Admiral. Should I stay in case she turns you away?"

Kathryn's eyes twinkled as she briefly considered the concept of failure before her half grin turned into what Tom Paris used to call a level 10 full on smile. "I doubt that's going to happen, Tuvok. I really do." She patted his wrist lightly as she turned to exit the personal transport he'd rented at the space port. Once she was fully outside the vehicle and the door had slid shut, she tapped the roof and waited for her best friend to turn it around and fly towards home and T'Pel. "Good bye, old friend, wish me luck." she muttered before turning to look at the imposing door before her. A door that no one had breeched in the last 9 days.

"Knock, knock." She waited patiently for the owner to respond.

Moments seemed to turn into minutes as Janeway's eyes scanned the horizon behind her, the door before her, and even her own boots before the door finally opened. Kathryn looked up from her boots to stare into the clear blue eyes of 71 year old Perrin, widow of that greatest of Vulcans, Ambassador Sarek, dead these last 21 years. Her hair was as white as snow and as she leaned against the door, staring at Janeway without saying a word, Kathryn suddenly wondered if her plan was in jeopardy.

For her part, Perrin was intrigued at the sight of this woman draped in a simple black cowl, the hood carefully arranged so that no one could see her face unless they were directly before her. It was that face, that human face with its piercing blue eyes, framed by that auburn hair that finally made Perrin open the door. She stood against the door, letting it hold her so her own weakness would not be so apparent to this stranger. Living alone in this house with him for so long was taxing to her system, but she dared not let anyone else see it. If they knew, if they really knew the danger that he posed to them all, she was sure the Vulcan High Command would not be stopped by a simple woman standing in a doorway.

"Yes?" she asked.

Kathryn shook the doubt from her heart and plunged forward. "Perrin, I am Admiral Kathryn Janeway. I have been sent by a mutual friend, Captain Jean Luc Picard to assist you in anyway I can." Kathryn made a slight show of looking left and right down the street fronting Perrin's home. "May I come in?"

Perrin slowly shook her head, "I am sorry Admiral , but the risks are too great."

Kathryn smiled, that smile that started with her mouth and culminated in her eyes, making her seem twice as formidable as she seemed just moments before. "Captain Picard told me you would say that. He also told me to tell you the I was "aware of the risks, but that this was the only logical solution." Her voice dropped an octave as she leaned forward to press her case on the woman before her." Let me in, Perrin. Let me help your family and your adopted world. Together, maybe we can save the Federation."

Perrin seemed to waver as she thought of the options presented by this Starfleet Admiral. Kathryn started to worry that the decision would be "No." when she saw Perrin's eyes close and she placed her forehead agaisnt the doorframe. She was just about to launch into another plea when suddenly the older woman began to collapse before her. Janeway quickly stepped forward and caught the light framed woman in her arms as the door closed behind them.

"SECURITY PROTOCOL APLHA BRAVO PI NOW IN PROGRESS" intoned the computer that ran the household.

"COMPUTER!" ordered the Admiral as she cradled the older woman in the foyer of the home. "Immediate biometric scan of the human, Perrin. What is wrong, and how do I treat her?"

A beam shot out from the hidden ceiling ports and scaned Perrin from head to toe. "Madame Perrin is dying from exposure to multiple quantum timelines intersecting with this house. There is nothing you can do to treat it, she will be dead within 12 more solar days, as will you be in 21 days."

Kathryn's face turned as gray as Perrin's as she looked down at the woman lying comatose in her arms.

The Admiral was considering her own options until she was interrupted by a new voice that floated across the room towards her.

"And just who, may I ask, are you?"

Kathryn's eyes left Perrin's face and she looked up into the craggy visage of a living legend.

"Ambassador Spock!"

Then suddenly, from behind him came 12 more Spocks of varying ages and styles of dress, all equally solemn in their logical appraisal of the woman kneeling before them.

"Yes, Admiral Janeway. I understand Jean Luc sent you." said the original Spock who greeted her. Waving to two younger versions of himself, he motioned them forward to pick up Perrin, and bring her into her bedchamber. "Come, Admiral, we have much to do and very little time in which to do it."

Requesting clarification on the movie Teacake and mairbearie have dreamed up.

So far Teacake has requested...

I WANT NUKIRK TO HAVE A MASSIVE CRUSH ON COUGAR JANEWAY WHO HAS TRAVELED BACK IN TIME!!!

Auburn haired Captain. And his massive crush would be.. UNREQUITED!! Yeah she would tell him, "maybe back in the day.." but poor poor NuKirk would be left with his tongue hanging out running after Cougar Janeway who humours him but that's about it. Because you know, he's a boy really.

It would be a tribute to Janeway's ultimate bamfness.

Also in the end, right before she goes back to the future or whatever, she would give him the passionate kiss he has wanted for the whole movie
----

Seriously though, maybe we should campaign to get Cougar Janeway into the movie. KM could spend a few months at the gym and she would be set to go (not that I think she needs this but we are talking Hollywood).

I can just see Cougar Janeway making a dramatic entrance right when NuKirk is in the middle of making an idiot of himself, he looks up and BAM(F) he's smitten. Smitten I tells ya! Be still his heart and other organs! And that underlying not sub at all text runs through the story line.

Okay, my confusion involves the whole cougar concept.

How can she be a cougar if NuKirk's smitten-ness is unrequited?

Do you want her mercilessly flirting with the young Captain, or do you want her on a pedestal, head and shoulders above the young man, flirting with everyone ELSE as she ignores his obvious "attraction"? ;)

Inquiring writers want to know.

I'd say flirting with everyone else. But not really flirting. Just paying more attention to them and "ignoring" Kirk.

And Kirk is of course flirting with her.

Fair enough. Froot and I are the same age, she said he birth year over on VAMB, and mine was a few pages back.

I'm still trying to guess how old you are. So far I know you're younger than KM, you were not allowed to watch ST in first-run because you were supposed to be in bed. But that's all I've got.

But I will say you're probably younger than my half-Korean brother.

I'm old enough to be VAS2009's Mother's older sister!

Or... you could simply say I was born when the last two states entered the union.

JR, I loved your script/story thing. Tuvok is my fave, and his friendship with Janeway is prolly the most interesting thing on VOY for me.

Beautiful pics, Mair!

Also, I think I may be one of the youngest who've posted here in HiJS.. but I've enjoyed it all immensely! :D

I know the last two are Alaska and Hawaii but I don't remember what years.

Did you get it?

What is VAMB, what what???

VAMB is a Voyager fan site. It deals mostly with J/C, but I believe there are other ships too.

EDIT: I found the dates, J'Rulz, you are younger than my half-brother. :)
