How is Janeway sexy?

But then again, I also didn't marry my husband for his looks. I married him for his personality and brains. So I agree with AMG beauty, well she said sexiness, is in the eyes of the beholder. I second it.

I agree. The guy I'm currently dating may not fit most people's idea of an Adonis but he's sweet, funny and I find him dang cute!

When choosing a life partner, I think probably most important quality is how well they'd function on a game show because there's no point committing to some gimp that can't phrase their answers in the form of a question or know when not to double down on Million Dollar heads or tails.

Janeway just seems like the sort of woman who would never never ever buy a vowel.

Mulgrew's is an elegant beauty. Elegance, I think, is a trait that some people find very sexually appealing and others are less affected by.

right on:techman:

Yes, elegant is another good descriptor.

I consider Kate to be 'old money', and it shows. She's got a level of refinement that qualifies into a category we rarely see now days: Actor.

Not "star" or "celebrate"... those are not the same thing as Actor.

The woman has class, and I consider that pretty damn sexy.

No. I was answering the original question. I meant she's quite domineering as a woman and authority figure. (some) Men (and some women) may find that attractive.

She's beautiful as a woman not as a girl.
Forceful
Compromising
High Class
yet not arrogant
Loving, trustworthy, elegant and austere...
Agreed. I'd love to hail her frequencies, though in fairness I have a hard time picturing her opening a channel... :p

it's definitely her personality that puts her over the top.

Which one?

But eh, I don't see it either. I mean, I don't get the urge to bleach my brain that Chuck does when she'd played romantically, but I also don't see anything in her as especially attractive or unattractive. She's not horrible or anything, but she doesn't do anything for me, really, whereas I think McFadden as Dr. Crusher was gorgeous.

It's all about the mojo, baby. I don't think she's attractive by "normal" standards. And I couldn't care less. I'm glad they made the star of the show someone who isn't the standard comic cover superhero female. I like all sorts of strong females, but it's nice when they come in different ages, shapes, and sizes. :)

It's the same reason I'm sure many of us find our significant others sexy. :) We like them as people, we like what they do. I'm sure we're all pretty average looking folks, ourselves.

And, anyway, we might as well extend this to all captains - why do the ladies find Sir Patrick Stewart or The Shat such beasts? Picard's an older balding gentleman, and Kirk's a bit portly with a ferret on his head, but they're still considered sexy. I would again venture that's it's allllll about their oodles of man mojo. :) (And probably Picard's lovely voice.) Male characters sometimes get a bit more of a pass on this than females, too, by the by. These threads pop up every now and then, but why is there never a "How is The Doctor Sexy" thread? (He totally is, by the way.)

And, of course, YMMV! We can't all like the same things.

Agreed. I'd love to hail her frequencies, though in fairness I have a hard time picturing her opening a channel... :p

Wow:rolleyes:
What? Don't think she can hit Warp 6.9?

I miss the rare ould times when people could distinguish between words like pretty, beautiful and sexy. Some blonde cyborg walking by in a catsuit that looks three sizes below the indecent exposure law would be sexy. An intelligent woman who fights for herself and her crew (and looks pretty nice while doing it too) is beautiful.

A pretty woman is someone who walks by the bus stop, and all the boys heads turn.

A beautiful woman is someone who walks by the bus stop and all the men's heads turn.

A gorgeous woman is someone who walks by the bus stop and all the women's heads turn.

Speaking of beautiful, sexy women... here's great, if old, TV guide article with Lucy Lawless (Xena) and Jeri Ryan about "wonder women".

Loved Lucy's line... "... Maybe we've just caught the wave of grrrl power. It's very hard to analyze any of this. I mean, 40 years of feminism has culminated with the Spice Girls..." :bolian:
