I was listening to an interview with Candice Bergen that was mostly about "Murphy Brown" this morning, and something about it made me think of this thread.

Do Murphy Brown and Kathryn Janeway share some similar character qualities?

The two actresses who portray them worked together on Murphy Brown.

No kidding! I watched Murphy Brown when I was a kid, I wonder if that episode stuck in my subconscious memory and affected that association.

In between takes at a studio. It is probably at the beginning of her movie career because she looks so young. I like the piece of material she's wearing for clothes. Hope it didn't get torn or something and leave little else to see.

That's quite a revealing dress in that photo. Does anyone know what movie or show she was filming at the time that it was taken? That's about the most exposed that I've ever seen her. She has mentioned in interviews that she had a no nudity clause in all her contracts, so I don't think that there'll ever be a nude pic of her floating around the internet.

She has always been exceptionally beautiful from the early days on Ryans hope , but in Voyager she just overly oozed sexiness . It isnt some sleezines - bits out and shit. Janeway's sexiness was both dignified and clean.. Know what i mean? Not some nasty porn magazine bullshit like Ryan is so use to doing .. Ooops..no disrespect tourettes kicking in again.... sorry bout.. Its true man!

Her sexiness has no bounds. Her physique ,beauty, her immense intelligence . Her tremedous ability to set a scene with her poetic dance with words and finally her brilliant comical timing.I loved Mulgrew's intimidation of the Catholic who she listened to at a convention whilst giving blood. I am not certain i believe her account of what happened , but i was just in fits of laughter went she spoke in an irish accent quote " Jesus , mother of Jesus".. She needs Janeway back in her life again folks - for real lol

Your opinion and you're entitled to it. Although, I beg to differ. I think that she was a good leader and that her crew thought so too. Janeway was a great character, if there were some ups and downs it was mostly due to the writing, not the actress who portrayed her.

As for what's sexy, that's very personal. Everyone has their preference; but I think that Mulgrew's intelligence, the fierceness with which she tackled her role and her husky voice made Janeway sexy.

You're probably right about it being the writing. There were times when I thought she did great, and then there were times when I was surprised she didn't have a mutiny on her hands.

Nothing will thrill me more than to have Janeway whip Shatner's and Stewarts ass in a movie purely on merit rather than sex appeal. I do not consider a woman to be triumphant if she needs to seduce a man with her charm to get ahead . I think Janeway has the full capacity to do so .

Mulgrew certainly does hold her own in Conventions when put against Shatner and Stewart. Shatner still thinks he is top dog and goes out the way to try and restore that in the audiences mind. I like the fact that Mulgrew holds her own and doesnt fold when baited (even if it is just light hearted banter) speaks volumes. This is one of the reasons , i know she could pull it off - real good


OITNB is a prime example that she has not lost any of that amazing strength, that unmistakeable force she had in abundance in the Seasons 1-5 of Voyager. It is good to see her back in top form . All she needs to do now is mirror that with some kick ass trip to the gym

I love her in OITNB.It is such a shame that we will not see more of her in Season 3 . Suffice to say , i have no doubt she will hold her corner real good if she was to battle alongside Shatner and Stewart

I'm a straight female, but I thought that Janeway was sexy. Then again, I find sexy the same attributes in women than I do in men: intelligence, a sense of humor, a kind heart and a "joie de vivre".

I assume that you found Seven to be far sexier. I thought that Jeri Ryan was a very beautiful woman, but I was more intrigued by Janeway.

I'm fairly new too, so I'm not sure if they already had a discussion thread comparing the leadership skills of all captains.

Meh, Jeri Ryan is a stone cold fox for sure but her character was almost asexual to me. Props to Jeri for the acting chops to pull that off because she is ridiculously good looking. By far the most attractive of all the Trek female characters hands down. In my opinion Troi is the sexiest followed by Kira from DS9.

But Janeway almost seemed to try to hard to be a "captain." It turned me off.
