I'd rather have Shatner -- though I find him awful as just about anything else, I like Nimoy's Spock, yet not to the degree that I'd go to see the movie just because he's in it. That said, a lot of other people would, and he will be the bridge between "old" and "new" fans. The way things are going, they might just use him the way "Casino Royale" used Judi Dench, which is to say playing the same role but not exactly the same character.

He's supposed to be integral to the plot so it sounds like it's rather important.
Well, Shatner's gotten significantly heavier but Nimoy each day looks even more and more like the Cryptkeeper-meets-Inspector Gadget, so it's a tradeoff. I'm not sure Shatner is behaving "bi-polar," but I agree it would be nice to see him turn in a serious Kirk portrayal, similar to his outtings in the first season of Star Trek and in the second film.Matt said:

If we could get a serious non-bipolar Shatner who looks like he did before Star Trek II, then I'd agree.

Nimoy may ensure that, even if the film is critically panned, I see the movie.
So important.

Desperate??? Hardly.
Nimoy came out of retirement to play Spock again. His endorsement of this film speaks volumes to me anyway.
Me too. He refused a role in GEN because he thought it wasn't worthy of the character and he thought the story wasn't very good. The fact that he's in this one tells me we've probably got a decent movie coming up next Christmas.6th day of XMe$$ said:
