How I would film a Superman reboot.

^ I'm sorry I didn't mean to take it as you were counterarguing, I was just explaining what I was doing a bit more (I don't think I'm making much sense either - it's too late and I still have six more hours until I can go to sleep).

Why do you have to be up so late. I'm up late, but that's because I'm stupid and not going to bed.

^ Work requirements I'm afraid. I'm getting used to being up all night because of reassignment (they claim it to be a promotion) to a management position for the graveyard shift.

Just when I'd programmed myself into a 9 to 5 one too...

^ That's why I included him, briefly, in my entry on how I would do it. But, as I said, I'd limit him as the main bad guy until the third film or so. I would probably go this route (I made up the titles just for the hell of it):

Superman: The Man of Steel
Main: Morgan Edge
Secondary: LiveWire, Sivana

Superman: The Man of Tomorrow
Main: Toyman
Secondary: Metallo, Riot

Superman: Last Son
Main: Lex Luthor
Secondary: Bizarro, Cyborg

Lex Luthor, Zod & Braniac would work too as main for the third one.

Darkseid...with The Rock playing Darkseid.

Just kidding on The Rock...but Darkseid would be cool.

I'm afraid Brainiac and General Zod would never appear in any of the films I would do (not that it would happen).

Here's what I would do, personally at least....
I edited your post so as to not quote the entirety of it and create a reading hassle. :) To be honest, I like the story, its pretty cool in a Superman-fan kind of way. But I do not think the general audience would like to see what I could basically say is a two-hour Smallville movie. If its Superman the general audience, the true money givers to the franchise, would want a definitive entertaining story + wall to wall great action. Star Trek, Dark Knight and Iron Man is the way to go, not Watchmen or Terminator 4. :p

Superman is not uncool...writers, directors & producers at the top ruin everything.

It's true they don't seem to be giving the blame due to the talent behind the camera (egad, Superman VI had problems a helluva lot bigger than Clark Kent - no brand name could save that movie), but they're also right on the money.

Look at the heroes in modern superhero films and action films that have done well. If they're not dark and brooding, and don't have angst or any other gritty elements, then they're wiseasses who crack jokes. Even Superman's traditional jokes are a tad lame, in an innocous Boy Scout sort of way.

I like the guy - far more then I care for any of Marvel's line-up, to be blunt - but I don't think he's terribly sellable right about now.

I don't care for him any more, he's had a cartoon series, a leading role in everyone else's cartoon series.
3 damn tv shows, one of which goes on forever and ever with 8+ seasons and he still doesnt fly
He's got 2 very good movies followed by 3 very sh*t movies, Singer's being the most boring of them all

Superman has been over exposed, its about time Wonder Woman got her own movie, or maybe a Green Lantern or Wally West. Superman is hogging the screen light and to be frank he doesn't sell well anymore

I would much prefer to see a GL movie

^ Superman is popular. That is why he keeps getting movies, TV shows, etc. You can make the same argument about Batman.

Superman featured in media projects is not the reason why other characters are not getting movies of their own. That is an illogical argument.

Also, Green Lantern is getting a movie.

I will be posting my own idea for a Superman "tetraology" of films. (I know, probably not a real word) soon. Just have to find the file on my drive...

I had a dream a sequel to Superman Returns was a done deal and in the dream the poster shows Lex Luthor(Kevin Spacey) with his hands around Lois Lane's(Kate Bosworth) neck and a giant faded blue Superman(Brandon Routh) in the back ground head down with eyes close and in bloody lettering "Superman 2" and I woke up ran to my laptop and got online and found nothing of the sort.

:(

I'd stop using the camp Lex Luthor that Donner created and make him the cold ruthless corporate mastermind that Byrne began and Timm/Dini/Burnett perfected.

Actually it's Clark Kent that has a cameo in the Green Lantern film not Superman...we'll have to see if DC Entertainment keeps this cameo in and who they cast as Clark or if they choose not to film it.

Actually I'm kinda bored with the corporate mastermind by now too. It's been around so long, and STAS already did everything you could possibly do with the idea.

Personally I'd like to see him return to just being an evil scientist again (although without the camp aspect from the movies).

I can't see Clark Kent appearing in the GL movie.

Rather, I can't see DC allowing that to happen. I am not saying it won't, but I am saying that it will be unlikely.

^ See I'm not very sure they wouldn't want to use it. I could see them doing it along the lines of Tony Stark appearing in The Incredible Hulk and heavily promoting it in the trailers. You'll think he's a lead character and he's really in the movie for a scene.
