Right here!!! I just usually comment in the weekly ratings thread but needless to say I am so pumped for this episode.

Count me in as a fan of this excellent show! (I'm so happy there's a new episode tonight - how long has it been since the last one, three weeks??)

I am surprised. After waiting what seems like forever, this new episode was average at best. And this is coming from a devout Barneyfile. The ways of the Stinson never fail to leave me amused... except now. I don't know why but the whole thing missed its mark or something.

Don't get me wrong. It was funny. I just don't think it lived up to Barney.

But a few things: Barney and Robin will get together. They are just going to keep teasing us until sometime in 2011 (or the ratings drop). I don't mind the teasing as long as they keep making it interesting. Last night's wasn't. Ted cracks me up when his goof-ball nerdiness comes out. The Christmas play flashback scene was classic. And poor Marshall. He is just so simple sometimes. I know why Lilly loves him. Robin is hot... and even the kid knew it. :rommie:

And just a word to the wise. When you have an amazing guest star like Frances Conroy, don't WASTE THEM. Give them tons to do and let them shine (like they would do on "Seinfeld). But her "TMI" bit in the kitchen had me rolling. She should have had more of that.

This was one of the silliest, most sitcom cliche plots they've ever attempted on this show. I voted average, but only because of the consistent awesome that is NPH, and the "I was a dirty whore..." bit.

This episode had 11.08 million viewers with a 4.2/10 share. It even managed to do better than Big Bang theory which had 10.98 million viewers with 3.9/10 share.

I didn't like the episode but I'm really happy with the ratings. This show was on the bubble for the longest time before this season.

I'm with Colin - not thrilled about the episode it self, but beyond thrilled that this excellent series is doing so well in the ratings.

I love the show but didn't really care much for this episode. I gave it an average because it was an interesting departure into family-oriented sitcom cliches.

It was definitely different, though I am getting a little annoyed that they keep teasing future plots and never going forward with them. Namely: Barney and Robin, as well as, you know, finding out who the mother is (granted that would ruin the show, but it's been a while since it's even been teased, with the umbrella bit).

I hope they advance these plotlines sometime soon.

My sentiments exactly.

Just saw it. Great episode. The wife & kid revelation in the teaser really got my attention.

I thought what we got was pretty good. Plus, she's Barney's mom, so they can always bring her back.

I was also disappointed. Looked like a bad spec script that some outside writer submitted, yet it was co-written by the series creators.

Maybe it was taken from the creators' "first draft" stack during the writer's strike. In any case it was not one of their better episodes.

And yes, Cobie Smulders is smokin'.
