How I Met Your Dad show greenlit at CBS

Essentially the same show as HIMYM with a new group of friends that may be introduced in HIMYM's series finale.

So apparently even CBS has run out of ideas...

Why not the spinoff "How you came to be?" about how the mom and dad got it on and had the children?

Or not doing on, I didn't think it was that big of a hit to have a spinoff.

I mean what is next a spinoff of Two and a Men titled "The Lesbian: Half Woman, Half Man" about what's his name lesbian daughter?

You know, I definitely wouldn't want that as its own show, but it might make a neat series finale (or episode right before the series finale).

That would be pretty cool, I had that idea that they should tell the story from the mother's perspective long time ago. And Barney Stinson should be a character who constantly appears by chance.

It would be nice for that guy who plays Ted. He hasn't managed to branch out like the other HIMYM actors did; so where does he go next? A recurring role in a spin-off could be a nice fall back.

I think it would be cool to have a 13 episode miniseries showing the mother as she is the roommate with Ted's girlfriend at one point and show the view for a bit from her POV.

However a new show with new characters that take in the same bar is just stupid!

Maybe an episode, but a whole series?? The most probable thing I see out of this is making an episode that's a twist to the original concept and have it aired during sweeps week.

He's been more focused on writing and directing then acting. See his films happythankyoumoreplease and Liberal Arts.

That being said, one of the things I love about HIMYM is the constant bouncing around with the chronology and the whole series being a flashback. They would need to do something different and unique with How I Met Your Father without retreading the original series. On the plus side, if they had the show planned out they could do it with less filler episodes than HIMYM.

They don't have much time to introduce the new group (and even less time to let the audience get to know and accept them, to get people to want to tune in and watch the new group).

Somebody in the "main" Mother thread suggested this and the idea has a certain appeal if done right.

The show did have a unique approach when they already flat out stated that the main love interest established in the pilot episode would not actually be the mother which was a bold move i must say.

It worked out however even though we knew that none of the women Ted would ever meet would be the mother except for the very last one yet we still watched because of the whole gang chemistry and their unique characters.

If they can replicate that (i have my doubts) i don't see any problem with it and referencing original Mother episodes in a subtle or maybe not so subtle way could be a blast (maybe have Ted walk through the picture from time to time ).

I'd definitely check it out.
